Fast Times At I-Mockery High.

Aloha, I-Mockery dudes! All I need are some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I'm fine.

As you may have noticed, I've been somewhat absent on the site over the last week ever since I put up my big Toxic High School tribute. It just happens to be one of those extremely busy months for me where I have trouble finding the time to eat, let alone get my daily site work done. This past week, an old friend (and roommate) from Virginia came out to visit us here in L.A., so we gave him the grand tour o' the town. I now have only a few days to play catch-up on all of my work because my brother is coming out to visit this weekend and I'll be showing him all around the city as well. So as you can imagine, being a Los Angeles tour guide for almost two weeks straight is leaving me very little time to work on the site. I'm also going to be doing some traveling this month as well, but at least that will lead to some good photos and stories I'll be able to share with ya.

I also joined a gym recently, but only time will tell if I stick to a normal work-out routine or not. If the past is any indicator, I'll go there for a few months and then lose interest. Fortunately, this is an awesome little independent gym that doesn't require you to sign any 3-year contracts or any of that bullshit. It's just a month-to-month deal. But still, even with it being a nice gym with all the conveniences one could ask for, working out bores the hell out of me. No matter what exercises I do, all I can think about is getting the hell out of there and getting on with my day. I think Christian Bale summed it up perfectly when he said, "Working out is incredibly boring. I swear it's true that the bigger your muscles get, the fewer brain cells you have. I found I had to stop thinking when I was in the gym because if I thought about it, I'd realize how ridiculous it was that I was pumping iron when I could've been out having a drink and a cigarette and enjoying some lunch." Ok, so I'm not a smoker, but you get the general idea. Fortunately, I'm absolutely sick of working at home all the time, so hopefully that will prove to be a good motivating factor. Working from home is cool 'n all, but it can turn you into a social cripple and/or drive you stir crazy if you do it for too long. I know there are lots of people who like being alone, but I generally prefer the company of others. And hey, I already saw Dominic Monaghan ("Merry" from The Lord of the Rings) working out at my gym not too long ago. That's right folks, you heard it here first... Hobbits do work out.

In other news, I was happy to find out the other day that our Trick-Or-Treat Adventure Quest game was recently nominated for the 2008 Tank Awards, Newgrounds first annual Flash awards. It's a hell of a cool thing to even be nominated as one of the best games of 2007 considering how many fantastic games were made throughout the year. Myself, Pox and Bom have never worked harder on a big Flash game in our lives, so it's really nice to receive that kind of recognition. I'm not expecting us to win or anything, I'm just happy we're included in such an exclusive group of spiffy games, so a big thanks to the NG crew for the nomination.

Also, I'm sure many of you will be happy to know that I've finally started working on my Pixel Pals comics again. There are two new comics up already and I've got some more on the way, so hopefully this will be a long-lasting run. I'm not sure why, but remembering that I have a comic strip that I should keep up with is one of those things that always seems to slip my mind even though I get a lot of email requests for updates to it. I guess between working on my regular site articles, taking UCB improv classes, going to the gym and entertaining guests with tours of L.A., that leaves little time for pixelated comics eh? Well by the power of pickles, I'm gonna do my best to keep up with 'em.

On a final note, some of you may recall that I received a "Sea Monkeys on Mars" set from a generous I-Mockery pal back in December. Well, I thought I'd let you know that they're alive and well, and some have grown quite large. Sure a few have kicked the bucket, but for those who perished, twice as many Sea Monkeys arose in their place! Some of them even ride on each other's backs. Lazy monkeys! Well, either it's laziness or they're just humping while they swim. Anyway, here is some footage of my mighty Sea Monkeys in action. Enjoy!

Sea Monkeys in space sounds like a 80's cartoon.
(Wasn't there a Sea Monkeys cartoon?) anyways, really glad to hear you're starting the Pixel Pals strip again, I thought you forgot about it.

I know there was a Sea-Monkey video game (simulator, perhaps?) released on the PS1 a few years ago right before the system's death. Look in to it, mehbey? :)

Perhaps those Sea Monkeys that just were not given another chance to see the light of day were praying for a swift death.

As for working out, well, I'm really deep into Moo Duk Kwan and I find it great to be able to improve my overall physical fitness while also being able to kick another guy ass from time to time. If working out is a concern for you, -RoG-, you should try finding a martial arts dojo instead of pulling steel... Hell, you might even start another new line of stories about an alcoholic, mentally challenged, karate veteran of the damned.

True story! Hobbits also like DDR. YEARS ago when I was a teenager, I saw Billy Boyd buy a dance mat from GAME (which is the biggest video game retailer in the UK).

Quick tip about sea-monkeys: They don't handle travel so well. Last september I moved to University and took them with me, but 95% of them died on the way there *and it was only a two hour drive*
Poor sea-monkeys, they were only a year old two.

You need to get better video of the monkeys. I couldn't see their little crowns.

I've been trying to figure out some way to work at home for the past 5 years now. Apparently as an accountant you need to be available. Whatever I'll just quit one day cause all I need are some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I'm fine.

Thanks to those of you who are sayin' nice things about Pixel Pals, glad you're happy to see the return of the comic. I finished another one last night that I'll have up in a bit.

Burn, hmm, I haven't heard o' that one, but I'll check into it as I still have my old PS1 system hooked up actually (primarily for when I get the random urge to play "Loaded" or "Battle Arena Toshinden"). Thanks for the suggestion.

Silver, yeah I guess you missed some of those older blog posts, but I took martial arts for years (Tae Kwon Do, black belt) and absolutely loved it. I'm hoping to start taking up another martial art when I have the chance out here, because it's a hell of a lot more fun than the gym... but I don't think it's the best way to beef up heheh. Great for cardio 'n flexibility though.

bountyhunterseven, maybe you didn't watch the entire video? A lot of them were swimming on the top and bottom during most of the video, but then towards the end, most of them swarmed and swirled around the center. Watch it again and you'll see. Dance my little monkeys, dance!

Sandy, first working out at a gym, now playing DDR? Wow... those Hobbits sure do know how to modernize themselves quickly, eh?

KrytenSyxx, you betcha, thanks again for sending 'em to me. Hopefully I can keep 'em alive for at least another year or longer. I know a place nearby that sells extra Sea Monkey eggs too. I prefer mine scrambled. *rimshot*

you do love us rog :)

Hey Rog, ever think of grabbing a Wii Fit instead of going to the gym? I've heard from a few gym dropouts that it's great for holding your interest in working out and actually becomes part of your daily routine after a while; so much so that if you don't use it for a day, you actually feel like something is missing from your day.

Speaking of workouts, that reminds me of my friend always wanting to go to GNC to buy all that muscle crap. All I do is sit in the vibrating chair and chck my weight (Which I am 9 pounds under-weight....thanks horse-racing track!)

Still, Pixel Pals coming back!? THIS I've gotta see.
