Spooky Sonic Tots.

I met a friend of mine for lunch at a Sonic Drive-In the other day, and we noticed that they have a special promotion in the kids meal right now: Spooky Tots! Seen here by row are Were Tot, Pumpkin Tot, Monster Tot, Franken Tot, Kitty Tot, Pirate Tot, Count Tot-ula, Arachni-Tot, Ghost Tot, King Tot's Mummy, and Skele-Tot. My friend loves cute little things like this so she just had to buy up several of them.

Why am I mentioning little stuffed toys in the shape of tater tots, you ask? Well, aside from giving credit where credit is due for having a decent Halloween promotion in their kids meals, I fucking LOVE Ghost Tot. Because while all the other ones vaguely resemble what they're supposed to be so you can tell just by looking at them, you really need to hear Ghost Tot's name to have any fucking clue what he is. Otherwise he's just a big fat and happy marshmallow. They could recycle this guy at any time of year and he'd be appropriate. They could shoehorn this guy into absolutely any promotion at all. He's like the bastard stepchild tot. I respect his lameness.

I couldn't tell what skele-tot was. I thought he was a really half-assed lagoony thing. I still think he is actually. since when are skulls green with a wolverine hairstyle?

A big, puffy marshmallow indeed, Proto. What I don't seem to get is what Monster Tot is supposed to be... I mean, I don't find anything particular in it. It just seems like a blue mop with three eyes... Is that monstruous?

Was she able to buy these tots separately without buying a kid's meal? How much were they a piece?

They need to add a zombie tot to the collection. Also, I agree with Silver on the monster tot… It is like they did not know what to do and came up with something random there.

The pic makes these tots look pretty big (almost pillow size)… I bet they are a lot smaller in real life.

Yes, you can buy them separately, and they were only $1.00 each!

And I couldn't tell what Skele-Tot was at first either. I though he was a zombie until I actually saw it in front of my face.

Monster Tot looks like a neopet to me. they're all amorphous dark blue things with electric blue highlights at random... right?
Strictly speaking they're all MONSTERS already, so having a monster tot is kinda odd.. I think they were just tossing out names, and the guy from accounting kept chuckling at "monster tot" so they kept it.

Why does Franken-tot have bolts in his thighs?

Coldfusion's right, it does look like an Electric Neopet (one of the colors they can be made). Maybe they should have done a Zombie instead?

And can I say "OMG! WANT!" Damn my town for not having a Sonic. Ebay, here I come.

My only guess is that those tights are part of his neck... Wait, do Tots have a neck? I guess their anatomy is similar to that of Domo-Kun or M.O.D.O.K., in which it just seems to be a large head for a body with limbs attached to it.

Sonic you marvelous bastards! Not only is your food good, your promotions are awesome! To me the Ghost-tot looks more like an uncooked tot to me. all white and cold, the golden browness stripped from its mortal coil.

If the monsters are that happy, it can't be good for the rest of us.

Finally someone has the forththought to combine horror and tater-tots. What a great time to be alive. I can't wait for when someone finally gets the smarts to combine the blooming onion with the works of Chaucer.

What kind of kid would want bullshit like that? I'll tell you what kind! A kid with down syndrome and ADD. If my mother got me one of those stupid ass things as a kid I would cut it open with scissors and light the son of a bitch on fire. Fuck you Sonic's Drive in!

Why does the mummy have red shoes? I mean Vampires are kinda fancy, so I could see a Tater Tot Dracula in fancy red spats, but I can't recall ever having seen a Mummy with shoes on, much less big red ones. But I do love them otherwise, especially Were Tot.

There's never a Sonic around when you need one. At least they finally put up a Hooters here.

This morning, I completed my set of Halloween Tots. I was saddened to learn yesterday that Were-tot is actually a "limited edition", so there are only about 4 of him in every box of 200 Tots. Imagine my joy at finding him at the second Sonic I visited. My life is now complete.
