Topps Halloween Cards!

I was sorting through some old files tonight and I stumbled on this image I had saved a while ago. Does anybody remember these Topps cards?

There was a time when Topps could do no wrong. This is just more proof of it.

I'm not sure what series they were from, but if I had known about them when I was younger, I guarantee you everybody would've gotten these on a) Halloween and b) Valentine's Day. Whatever they are, I definitely need to get my hands on a full set of these.

Also, my big photo gallery from the trip to Knott's Berry/Scary Farm's 2006 Haunt is now online. Take a look and lemme know whatcha think!

Another survey: Describe your best and worst Halloweens ever. What was so good about them? What was so awful? Let's hear all the juicy details.

Dear RoG, re: Knott's

You say they have a Camp Snoopy section for the littl'uns? Was is by any chance called...Camp Spooky for the halloween season?

I live close to Dorney Park way out here in Pennsylvania, and for halloween they add 2 haunted houses and a magic house (The magic house in the most fun), and reduce ticket price by 50% for halloween, but that's about it. Wish I could see that Knott's. CAMP SPOOKY AT HALLOWEEKENDS AT DORNEY PARK! OOOOOOOOO

My worst halloween ever is when my bro was locked up in some instution when he and I were still kids. He had alot of issues back then. Anyway, me and him always went trick or treating together, but since he was gone I was all alone. I was really sad and felt really bad for my brother. So I decided to bring an extra treating bag along so I could get some candy for him when I would go and visit a week later.

Every house I went to gave me enough candy for just myself. When I held out the second bag and told of my brothers' situation some people gave me a little more. But alot of the people thought I was being a greedy liar. It hurt me alot, but I managed to get some candy to my bro anyway. I was determined to, at least it gave him a little happiness.

I would not wish that kind of halloween on anyone.

Great new article, I especially loved the little touch on the high school cafeteria menu, "French Flies" was changed to "America Flies", so you know it had to have happened during the anti-France "freedom era" (which Proto wrote something hilarious about, but I digress.)

My worst Halloween, and I'm admitting to this (again, because for some reason my last comment didn't post...) I got that stupid "Bleeding Skull" mask and not only trick-or-treated in it, I went to a school dance in it. By the end of the trick-or-treating, I was a monk holding a bleeding skull, because there was no ****ing way I was going to keep roaming the suburbs in that thing. Most of the time I was just throwing the mask back on to go to a house and pulling my hood up. I haven't gone trick-or-treating since.

My worst Halloween was simple, I came down with a terrible flu and couldn't go Trick or Treating.

My bst one was when I was 17 and went with my lil cousin trick o treatin' in my hometown. We scored LOTS of different candies, one was a candy eye that oozed blue goo (tasty) she got a candy nose that oozed green pus out of candy pimple on it...

There was a kid in a scarecrow costume who tried to make us jump, but I had seen the hand holding the hay as we stepped into the house. He didn't scare me, but boy did my cousin jump. She knocked me on the ground. XD What a laugh I had.

That Knott's piece is pretty good. I remember the never ending commercials for it during September and October. Would it be okay if I used the cow clip in a sound collage? Hearing 'Pleeeeease miilllllk meeeee! I'm soooo bloooated.....wiiiith MIIILLLLLK!!!' would be priceless.

Anywho,
BEST HALLOWEEN: First year I moved to Culver City and went around the entire condo complex getting candy rom over 150 units. It was well over 5 pounds of pure sugary goodness that year.

WORST: The time I went trick or treating in Canyon Country and almost shit myself when a man snuck up behind me.

I can't really say I've had a definitively besty or worst Halloween, but I did have one year that had a touch of both.
It was because of my costume. I was still in grade school and I was dressed up as a stick of dynamite. Red posterboard tube with shoulderstraps to stay on, a hat made out of the same material with a rope sticking out of the top for the fuse. It was awesome. Best costume ever, making for a great Halloween candy haul.

About halfway through the night it started to rain. When I got home, the costume was destroyed and I didn't get to be out long enough to get the haul a stick of TNT deserved.

Best costume. Worst weather.

Worst halloween ever: The one time I got sick with the flu. No candy for me. :(

Best Halloween Ever: The one year I dressed up as jason and leaped out from the shadows beside my house violently wielding...a leaf blower. Each time I did, the kids would be scared shitless. Then they'd notice the leaf blower and laugh. And I'd look at it and slump back into the shadows. Then wait for the next kid. Good times.

Those Topps cards look more like the cheap Valentine's Day cards you can buy in the small boxes at ANY place around that holiday. The shape sorta' gives it away on that .. I'd assume they're just a "creepy" version aimed towards the male demographic of children who give out pieces of cardboard to classmates only they like.

As for best and worst Halloween? All the Halloween's when I was a kid were the best. Now that I'm older and less inclined to go trick-or-treating, they're not so great. However, the fact that I can still dress-up and drink copious amounts of alcohol at friend's parties make up for that fact in a minor way.

My best halloween was (I think) 2000. I dressed up as Link and my best friend dressed as Darth Maul. Our school had a huge thing going on that was very awesome. I mean the "eat the doughnut suspended on a sting" contest, hot chocolate with dry ice in it, and a good chance to show off costumes. All this was great, but the fact that it was at the school (so we could go without our parents) was neat. Later after I trick-or-treated, I had lots of good candy, and watched The Simpsons Halloween specials as I ate

1998's halloween was also memorable. I dressed as James Bond, but at least 1 out of every 3 kids dressed up as Scream that year. (James Bond could totally kick the Scream Guy's ass if he wanted.)

My worst halloween was last year. Although we have the best halloween decoractions for a number of blocks, last year I didn't do anything other than give out candy to the kids. (Although the combination of my awesome costume and Protoclown's artical have convinced me to go this year.)

Two more things:
1. I can't fucking wait for the Choose Your Own Adventure this year for I-mockery. Those rock!

2. I know I sound like a geek when I say this, but when you mentioned the music from the Matrix reloaded and revolutions, in the video I think that was the song where Neo fights Agent Smith in the first movie.

Those cards are great. My favorite would be the "real swinger" one, but they had to put the rope around his waist instead of his neck.

My favorite has to be the "stolen heart" one, because it's pretty graphic for a kid's card. Second place goes to the bee one. The only thing that would've made that one better would be if the stinger went through the woman. It wouldn't look nearly as dirty then, either.

Honorable mention: The pistol wielding madman shouting "I missed you!".

2.Oh wait, that was the music to The Burly Brawl from Reloaded. My bad!

About 2 years ago some bad crap happened with the family. It sucked. I also got like only a pound of candy. Which REALLY sucked cause it was gone fast. Best one was 3 years ago. I got like 6 punds of candy. It lasted till friggin FEBUARY. It was great.

My worst Halloween was in 2005 where I didn't get to trick or treat do to wasting too much time making a 3D Holloween animation. I finished the the animation , but at what cost? On that note, my best halloween was 2004 where I wore a Pig biker costume and chased the children with a Pick-axe. That day rocked!

Darnin (Guest) on 10/19/2006 8:12 pm

Alright, you've got me. I'm going to save up a couple hundred bucks, and fly out to that farm place. If only for the "Milk Cow".

That sounds dirty.

Worst Halloween: I was little and decided to go as my older brother. 'Nuff said.

I live in Australia, and Halloween is practically unheard of here. The worst was probably when I took my little sisters trick or treating, and we knocked on this guy's door. He didn't even open the door, we just saw his eye looking through the glass. So my sisters said TRICK OR TREAT, it's halloween! and the guy goes, in a thick foreign accent, WHAT'S HALLOWEEN? and before we could reply, he goes, GO AWAY.

No best halloweens so far.

My best halloween was when my friend dressed up as a box for halloween and the year before I was a janitor. everybody wanted me to clean their house. He was just "fucking classic". Sadly, he's going to the Marines. Also a good one was when I went to three haunted houses.

Nothing says great like wearing a silly wig and getting scared by Leatherface, only to have him say "Well damn, your hair done fell off!"

The worst halloween for me? Probably last year or two years ago, when me and aformentioned friend walked around, not dressing up at all. That's when we noticed that the amount of houses giving out candy could be counted on two hands. Plus the houses that did all the wacky stuff just wasn't doing it anymore.

well let's just say i was drunk and ollying my board at 3 in the morning at a party while my friend answered the door dressed as a penis, when the cops came.....^_^

my best and worst halloweens were, lets see, i'll start with my worst one: My worst one, was when i was jason and my friend was freddy, and we'd sing that song "why cant we be friends?" for extra candy, we went trick or treating for about 3 hours, and about half my bag was full. NOW my best one was last year when i went with about 5 other people, and we stole cheap small un carved pumpkins from peoples porches, TP'd a persons house and stole a scarecrow, we also almost broke a window at a school. im a bad person :( P.S i've never seen a person in one of those shirts, if you have one, i'd love to see a picture of you in it.

Wow, some of you have had some pretty bad Halloweens in the past. Hope this year proves to be better.

Socks, hrm nope, I didn't see any signs where they renamed it "Camp Spooky" instead of "Camp Snoopy". I think they were just trying to completely hide the fact that, during the day, it was a children's area. They hid it well!

LoneWolf, yeah the Bleeding Skull Mask is pretty much one of the worst Halloween masks ever created. Sure, it might look amusing 'n all, but you cannot breathe in it!

Steve, I agree 100%. If there was ever an arch nemesis of Halloween, it would have to be Mother Nature.

Shannon, glad you had fun and glad you could help us navigate through the park!

Shadow40000, oh yeah, don't you worry about it, we've got a big new "Select Your Destiny" (ie: Choose Your Own Adventure) story coming out this year. You'll be happy to know that it's our longest one ever too! And don't ever question me when I say something about the Matrix. I've probably seen those movies more times than anybody (I know a lot of people didn't like the sequels, but I did and consider that final Neo vs. Smith fight to be one of the most amazing pieces of filmmaking I've ever seen). Anyway, yeah it was definitely hilarious hearing that music at a "haunted" attraction.

Jono, Not a single good Halloween so far? Well you win the most depressing Halloween story prize. Clearly you need to leave Australia and fix this situation immediately.

Darnin, if you really are flying there, make sure you do before the 31st. Otherwise, you'll miss out on all the Knott's Halloween attractions.

I remembered once seein a zombie dominatrix scene when I was way younger. Ive never seen somethin like that since then, and I always thought that itd be cool to do somethin like that again.
Whats creepier then a dead girl dressed in a leathery dominatrix outfit whippin another zombie whose hopelessly tied to some old bed?

...Oh...guess Im just a freak...
