Title: Scramble
Author:Konami
Rom Player: MAME
Reviewer: Randy Johnson
Synopsis: I played the Scramble arcade game a few times twenty years ago. Three years ago, I got it for my Playstation on Konami Arcade Classics. Let me tell you something: Scramble was the crappiest arcade game ever made. I used my Gameshark on KAC and I still couldn't reach the Enemy Space Base. As you fly, you can shoot up to four lasers and or drop two bombs at a time. You must shoot fuel tanks and this is hard. What makes Scramble such a crappy game is that when you get killed, it makes you start over from the beginning of the level. On level one, you must dodge and or shoot flying missiles. On level two, you must dodge or shoot Flying Saucers. On level three, you must dodge asteroids. You can't destroy them. On level four, you must shoot and or dodge missiles while flying through buildings. This is incredibly hard. You continue until you reach the Enemy Space Base. Twenty years ago, a boy I went to school with got mad and shook a Scramble arcade game. He shook it so violently that he shattered its marquee. At the time, I didn't know why he got so mad, but after playing Scramble on KAC, I understood why: Scramble is so frustrating that it made me want to pull my hair out when I played it. Why couldn't it have been easier like the handheld Scramble by Tomy? Tomy's Scramble was cool. I've recently ordered Scramble for the Vectrex. Hopefully it will be easier. Konami has made good games, but Scramble wasn't one of them. I give it a 1.
