Title: Simpsons, The (2nd Review)

Synopsis: Ah, this game brings back good memories. Laying the beatdown on hundreds of suits (and looking good doing it), clobbering that huge bear at the end of Level 5 (with the lovable, bassy "BOOM" sound every time you land a blow), and finally destroying Burns after dropping about $50 worth of quarters into the game. Good times, those.
Aaaanyway, this game has you, in the role of either Bart, Lisa, Marge, or Homer (depending upon which of the four joysticks you use) out to rescue Maggie from Mr. Burns, who was abducted somewhat by mistake. Each level generally has you brawling several of Burns' goons, ending with a fight against a bizarre boss like a huge samurai, a gigantic bowling ball (that grows arms as the fight continues) or a fire-breathing drunkard (what is it with drunks and fire in video games, anyway?). Each of your characters also has a 'team up' attack that can be performed with another player. When Bart and Homer are paired up, for example, Homer lifts Bart onto his shoulders and then whacks the enemies with him (hehe). Bart and Lisa link arms and run around screaming (clobbering anything in their way).
This game is all about non-stop, cartoon-style action. Konami knows how to do action games, and the Simpsons is proof of it. Why this game was never ported to the SNES or Genesis remains a mystery to me, but if you ever come across an arcade cabinet of the Simpsons it's well worth dropping some quarters into.
Best Cheats: Push Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Start to begin with 10 lives. Ha, I'm just kidding.
