Title: Madden NFL '95
Author:Sega Sports
Rom Player: Gens
Reviewer: Rickey D.

Synopsis:
Overview

NFL '95 has got to be the greatest football game made for the Sega Genesis. This game allows you to play as you favorite team against rival teams. NFL '95s roster management system allows you to create "The Perfect" team, and it also allows for you to trade for better players.

Offensive Overview

I thought that from the offensive perspective this game was awesome, it displayed true achievement for Sega Genesis. You may notice at the top of the screen that Sega Sports is an actual division of Sega. I think that Sega made this game because of all of the other bad football games around.

Running Game Overview

The running game in this was AWESOME, it contained all of the finesse moves that I love to use (spin, juke, and stiff arm), and you could see tacklers from up to twenty feet away which gives YOU the advantage.

Another great aspect of the running game is that if you dive down the middle it looks realistic. The Offensive Linemen create the space for you to run through and they also block for you up to five yards down the field, which is a necessity for those tough situations (such as being ten yards away from the end zone, but the defense keeps using a cover 0 on you.)

I give the running game a 9 out of ten.

Passing Game Overview

The passing game is very realistic and has great features, for instance most football games you see three screens at the top of the screen and they don't show the DB's. Well on this game it shows the entire field when they run down, it shows all of the possible receivers on the actual screen.

All of the other football games for the genesis that I played, you only had the choice of throwing to three receivers. Well in this game you can throw it to up to five.

I give the Passing game a 10 out of 10.

Defensive Game

Sega Sports made the defense the greatest aspect of this game, they gave the DB's good enough Artificial intelligence that they allows do their assigned jobs, they made the Linebackers so that they would never miss a tackle, and they give you the choice of being any position that you want on the field.

There is not too much that we can say about the defense, but that it was the best defensive system for the Sega genesis.

We give the defense a 10 out of 10.

Closing Statement

NFL '95 was the greatest football game of it's time, it blew the madden series straight to hell. People always tell me that the madden series kicked ass, then I ask them if they have ever played NFL '95.

Graphically this game is top of the line, it shows things the way that they should be. This is the greatest game for the Sega genesis and it gave some of the newer games for the XBOX and PS2 a backbone, by providing the fundamentals of what a football game should be.
