Title: R.C. PRO-AM
Author:Rare, Ltd.
Rom Player: None. Played actual game.
Reviewer: Dead Decoy

Synopsis: When Rare was nothing more than a dribbling baby of a company, they had no Donkey Kong 64, No Banjo-Kazooie, and no Conker. No, back then, they had a little gem called R.C. PRO-AM.

The game itself is your standard bird-eye racing game. The cars you play as are little R.C.'s that race along the track so many laps to win.

The first plus of this game is the graphics. The NES was cpable of some decent stuff. The cars need to slide around a lot, and the NES provides well-detailed sides of each indiviual angle.

Game Play is very addictive. You won''t stop until you have all of the gold trophies in your trophy room, even if you have to spend 2 years on a vomit and pee-encrusted bean bag chair and no sleep trying to beat that last goddamn level. That last sentence conveyed the games cheapness. If your comfortably ahead in the distance, the guys behind you will snort some crack and haul ass until they whiz past you and put you in last place. It's enough to make you almost break the cartidge in half (which I almost did) or leave a fist-shaped indent in your keyboard.

To stop the computer and it's cheap ways, you have an array of little gadgets to blow the oppsition to smithereens. You have bombs, which can be dropped behind you for a nasty suprise to any speed-demons;missles, which are useful for screwing over the leader with it's foward attack, or the classic oil slick, which can send the computer into the side of the track.

Controls can be a bit frustrating, as you have to steer toawrds the track otherwise you'll just go off it. You can't see the track ahead of you, so you have to rely on a min-map with glowing blips representing the racers. You have to divide your attention btween it and the actual race, so it can be more of a nuisance.

Music is okay, pretty much waht you would expect from a NES game.

This game had little RC cars that raced on a track full of goodies to blow the sh*t out of each other with. Best of all, you get to see it from above! Gotta love it.

Best Cheats: Collect The letters you find on the track to spell out N-I-N-T-E-N-D-O to get a new car. Is it better? Damned if I know.
