Title: Super Dodge Ball
Author:Technos Japan
Rom Player: JNes
Reviewer: OxfordSparky

Synopsis: Remember NBA Jam? A lot of people think that that was one of the first over-the-top sports games that started the genre that would eventually lead to games like SSX or NBA Street. You know what I'm talking about, the games that are based on a sport but have lots of flash, stunts, and bullcrap thrown in that make it more fun than the actual sim? Well Super Dodge Ball is the precursor to these.

Although it's kinda tough to classify dodge ball as an organized sport outside of high school gym class, it doesn't really matter as this is one of the most ridiculously fun NES games that were made. The premise is simple; you have 3 guys on offense and 3 guys on defense (defense guys surround the opponents' half of the court to catch missed balls). However, there are power shots you can do by running and throwing the ball, and they usually make the ball flash, contort, and go at different speeds to throw off your opponent. Add in they take away more HP (yes, instead of one-hit-you're-out, this game works on health) and you get a hectic, fun game that takes quite a while to get old. Grab a friend and give it a go, however the 2-player matches have the tendency to become a stalemate if you get two decent people playing.

Best Cheats: Not really a cheat, but try Randy's air power shot (run, jump, and at the apex of the jump throw the ball). When it hits it knocks the guy off the screen and he flies in from the other end!
