Synopsis: Well, you play Adol again, who arrives in Sarina with his friend Dogi. A great demon named Demanicus has threatened the land. Stop him.

Gameplay: 7/10 - Well I think the gameplay greatly improved from the first Ys game. Ever play Zelda II: The Adventures of Link? It's pretty much like that - a side-scrolling adventure where you hack and slash the enemies. I thought it was more fun than the overhead "bumping into enemies" action of the first game.

Unfortunately, I noticed that the screen would get rather choppy at times. The Genesis version of the game was much smoother.

I don't know, I didn't have that much difficulty beating the game. There weren't many secrets and it was mostly a matter of having a higher experience level to beat the monsters.

The story was pretty simple. The first game had a much deeper storyline. Demanicus threatens the world! Stop him!! The story is that simple.

Graphics: 8/10 - The graphics are much better than the first one. I especially like the lava levels. Demanicus' island is cool too, since you have to carry a light with you because you're in total darkness.

Music: 9/10 - Well, I like heavy music, and this game delivers. There are far more heavy metal guitar tracks in this game than the first one. The music doesn't fit the mood all the time, but I like it. However, the voice acting is HORRIBLE! You can barely hear the characters speak, and when they do it's completely wooden. What happened to the old voice talents? Anyways, Ys games are known for good music and I think this game lives up to that standard.

Originality: 6/10 - Well, it's a sequel so you can't expect it to be too original. The story is so-so and the acting sucks. The improved graphics won't make this game rise above the first Ys game (Book I and II).

Overall: 8/10 - I'm being generous, but the music is so good that I have to give this game a high rating. Also, I was impressed by the graphics.
