Title: Crusader of Centy
Rom Player: Gens
Reviewer: Zomboid

Synopsis: Another one of the games I rented a couple times and beat as a little kid...This game has been labeled a rip-off of Link to the Past for SNES (if you don't know what that is, go away). Personally, I disagree. There are some definite similarities, though.

You play as a 14-year-old boy who has to go and "prove himself" or something because it's the law. It sounds like the typical adventure game storyline so far, but it gets a little better. I won't reveal much, but I will say that the game has lots of different settings, so you probably won't get bored with the surroundings too quickly. Just wait till you're turned into a blob for a certain part of the game...

Speaking of surroundings, the graphics are really good for a Genesis game. This is one of the areas that make people think it's a Zelda rip-off. The graphics are as good, if not a little better than Link to the Past's, but they do look very similar. Everything is bright and colorful, and it really helps the game.

The gameplay is like Link to the Past's, but only a little. Before I really get into it, I wanna say that you can throw your sword after learning how, and it acts like Thor's hammer (by coming back to you, moron). You start off only having 1 button to use (slash) but after talking to a rabbit (don't ask), you'll be able to jump. At first you can only jump a little ahead of you, but that's all you need right away anyway. One of the things that makes this game really unique are the animals you get to join you. You go around on your quest finding animals to join your cause and they each have a cool thing to do. For example, the penguin makes your sword freeze when you throw it, doing more damage to enemies. There's 15 animals in the entire game, but there's like 4 that are kinda like items (you use them once and they go back to where you bought them). You can only have 2 animals out at a time, and you can only use their powers when they're out with you. You can do different combos with the sword-changing ones to get different results. There are lots of different puzzles to get through and it's a unique game that you'll enjoy beating once or twice. It's not a really long game, but it's long enough to keep most people happy.

Very fun to play and easy to get in to. The only downside is it might be too short and too easy for veteran gamers.

Graphics: 8
Very nice graphics for its time and especially for a Genesis game.

Sound: 6 Pretty good music, but it can get annoying after playing for a long time. The sounds are all average, nothing special. The sound you make when you're hurt can be annoying, though.

The kind of game it is isn't very original, but the animal thing makes it different.

Overall: 8
Good adventure game that you should play if you like Zelda for SNES.

Best Cheats: None that I know of.
