Cover letters

I hate them. They are total crap and BS. Honestly, as a hiring partner I would only care about the qualifications on the resume to give this person an interview because I know when I interview them they will give me all the crap I want to hear anyway.

It would be nice to just say "give me a job mother fucker. I'm doing it for the money and YOU KNOW IT!!"

my friend was hiring so he recieved around 50 applications so I went through them with him and there was this one "lady" that wrote a 8 page cover letter about how she travelled around the world and stuff and alot of personal shit and it was quite funny but also very wierd. If I could give some advice on this I would say keep it simple like what your job experiences have been and what you would like to do and accomplish in the future.

legal cover letters are no more than a page, so no problem there. But they are just the ghey.

Every job I've ever had has never required a cover letter. In turn I dont bother writing one.

Yeah, cover letters have to be short... usually no more than 4 paragraphs, too (intro, why you want the job, backing up your credentials, closing). Yeah, you fill them with BS, but lot of times employers just look at the style to get an impression of how your written communication skills are. If you have bad grammar and the writing style of an 8-year-old, chances are you won't get the job, no matter how good you know your stuff.

Resumes are two pages for professional/technical jobs, and you never put references on it. If it's your first job out of university, it's usually a good idea to attach a transcript.
