...But I don't know what's a better time slot. I can have 6 - 8 PM on Wednesdays OR 7 - 8 PM on Fridays.

It's on a really small community based radio in Maryland and I'm playing electronic/techno/drum 'n bass/whatever the hell I want.

I made a topic about it before, but communication kinda fell through. The guy called up the station today when I was on my friend's show and said he accidently deleted my last e-mail to him and he wants my number again.

Oh and it's 97.5 WRYR in Sherwood, Maryland if anyone has an antennae or anything :(

I sound like a girl on the radio :(

I'm probably gonna burn each show onto a CD, make it an MP3 and put them online or something. :(

7-8 pm on fridays friggin owns most other time slots.

school is over, good way to relax and get in a different mode, and it ends early enough to party afterwards if youre going to one.

do you guys stream on the net? our local station is kinda small too but we have live stream and archived shows..

No, it's just a small community-based thing. The place only gives off 100 watts I think :(

I trimmed and converted the .WAV of my half of the show, I just need to find a place to host it now.

Yeah, Friday 7-8 is the one to go for.

& you should use the Jingles 'Hey Pete, this is essential!" & "This is for you nightclub people, you are night club people ain't yer?" but done in a bad cockney accent. :D

My station isn't streamed online because I'm the bloody lazy technician that never gets around to setting it up. :(

I don't mean to contradict the other opinions, but in my own experience, Friday slots tend to suck.

1. Your only on a 100w station, which means the IDEAL distance of air-play you're going to get is 100w, but depending on weather, equipment, etc., you may not even broacast at that level, so trying to hit some "mass Friday market" is sort of irrelevant.

2. You said you'll be playing electronic, essentially party music. That might be cool on a Friday 7-8 on Fridays, b/c people will be getting ready to go out, driving around, etc., and you'd make good background music. But that doesn't necessarily equate to a steady listenership, because on Friday people have other things to do in the evening.

3. On a 6-8 slot on Wednesdays, you'll be getting the tail end of the rush hour drive-time people who will be flipping around on their car radio stations. Those people could come to expect to hear you every Wednesday night, and religiously tune in. Also, high school kids are at home already, college kids always have time, so you'd be hitting just about every demographic that likes your music. Plus, it's Wednesday night. People don't normally make plans Wednesday night, so they are more willing to sit around and listen to the radio.

4. Coming from a more personal rationale, I would lean towards going for the Wednesday slot, because it's an hour more to play my music. I always found a one hour program as a waste of my time, by the time I got to the station, set up my rotation, played all the legal IDs, etc. It may be different for you, b'c I played rock music, so I dunno.

Just my $0.02. :)

I'd go with Wednesday... I don't know about you people, but on Friday nights, I like to get out and usually the last thing I would be doing is listening to the radio.

I was thinking about it for a long time. I'm probably going to go with Wednesday--it'd be better, since what I really want is exposure...I might get SOME on Friday, but as you said, everyone is out and about.

On Wednesday I would have an extra hour anyway and I can have guests whenever I want

(HINT HINT ANYONE FROM I-MOCK)

and since people'll be stuck in rush hour, it'll make them listen. Kevin makes a veeeeeery convincing argument :o

Plus, on Wednesdays, nobody is on after me so there's no "awkward silence" moments. I just turn it on the programming and let it go :picklehat

i did radio shows for exposure, sure... but i wanted to enjoy myself too.. friday night radio shows were friggin great for me to unwind.. talked to a lot of people for an "alternative freeform" station (read: you can pull of a noise slot if you like)... and since i was already out once the whole deal was over, it was easier to walk about and find a party i liked.

wednesdays i'd we finishing up what im putting on and then do the show, then be in no mood to do any homework (coz college sucks, man...)

then again i was working on 9200 watts or something... and we got to choose different slots each quarter...

so really, if it's an option, just flip a coin and run with both. see what suits YOU better.

I have no clue who that is. :(

I let like six people hear it and they all say "You have an important voice" :(

I don't like him either, & his radio programme is shite, that's why my advice to Schimid to emulate him was meant to be funny. :(

That'd be okay, I'd totally tell you what to say. ;(

Plus, I play OverClocked Remixes from time to time. It'd still be cool. :(

This reminded me of the episode of Pete and Pete where they got the radio station and people kept asking to ear Marmalade Queen or something. :lol

Before and after my show, no one is in the studio. I could have a mini-mock meet or something during the summer where we all get together and I play 10 minute songs and we just hang out inside the studio and then when the song is over I just go and start a new one :(

"Do any of you even know who Pete Tong is?"

-he may be rubbish now, but he was a pioneer, and there arent any other DJs who have actually entered the english language...'its all gone a bit Pete Tong' -I think thats actually in an english usage dictionary now!
