Sure, he's mildly amusing in that sanitized, chuckling, inoffensive way that Middle America loves, but otherwise he just blows.

He's a comedy appetizer. He doesn't really do anything very profound, but he's good for a laugh at the expensive of a social niche or common crisis once in a while.

Dave Barry isn't funny? Surely you jest. His column isn't always good because he has to put one together with great frequency, but most of the books he's written are funny as hell. His early stuff is especially good. Read "The Taming of the Screw," "Dave Barry Turns 40," and "Claw your Way to the Top." You'll be glad you did.
