"I have taught my children the value of history and the value of human stands. ... Whoever decides to forsake his nation from whoever requests is not true to the principles. We will die here. We will die in this country and we will maintain our honor."

in case you missed it. that quote is from Saddam.. did yall catch the interview with Dan Rather? Seems to me Saddam has his rhetoric down pat. He said a lot of things that seem pretty darn respectable, his religion speak and baiting(we didnt lose gulf war 1) are the only things i'd say he could improve on so as to not anger Americans.. on the whole.. he's not stupid from what i saw and doesnt need a speech writer, unlike our pres. who needs lessons on how to speak his native language :/

of course i dont know what to make of him saying that he has no more wmd. I assume he's lieing but, what if he isnt?? He's said repeatedly that his country is not an enemy of the U.S. and i do believe that.. and have believed that since ive talked to more than a few people that have walked the streets of iraq and returned to tell others what they found. Among other things, he has not carried out Any attack on us despite the fact that we've bombed the crap out of his country for over 10 years.

we are the criminals if we pre-empively attack iraq.. it doesnt matter if saddam is a criminal or not.. if we crush innocent iraqis to get saddam we have joined the terrorists in action, and invited new attacks on our homes.. why can't people understand that?

there is something great to be said about honor. it can be the cause of one's treating another with respect, honesty, and compassion.

I read that quote in today's paper as well. I for one don't doubt his sincerity on this issue.
