I made the mistake of volunteering for an information dissemination convention at my school. I'm supposed to be speaking on the topic of Politics and Corporations: Strange Bedfellows.

What can you tell me about Halliburton and/or Zapata Oil?

Please email anything, even just vague leads, to

analysisspeculationspecialist@yahoo.com

Not sure where I want to go with this, but I know this is your forte.

How can I resist a thread with topic line like that? Do you think Mock would mke every thread wherein I'm favorably mentioned by namke sticky topics.

Zapata Oil I currently know dick all nothing about.

Haliburton on the other hand recieved some very Juicy military contracts under semi suspicious circumstances after Dick Cheney 'graduated' the first Bush administration. Let me check my sources and I'll get back to you. When is this convention thing happening?

About three weeks.

I started with the 300 Billion dollar contract on Guantanamo Bay (SP?), because that was the only real item I knew about in relation to Halli and Cheney.

Thanks for your help, going to try balls to the wall to impress on this one. Hawaiian politics is so inbred here, that my Soc318 teacher is best friends with Duke Iona, our Lt Govenours brother, and since she'll be hosting I was hopping to either dazzle them with brilliance or baffle them with bullshit.

This article is a great start, and if memory serves, Zapata figures into it to, somewhere along the line. You may the find the itself useful for your topic, to.

Just in case the link doesn't come through, the site is

the article is titled

The War on Terrorism's Gravy Train

Cheney's Former Company Wins Afghanistan War Contracts

The site quite obviously has an agenda but you'll find the key things that adress your topic are easily verifiable, ie. Haliburtons relationship with the administration. Things you may not be able to find out are Chenney's role and who else competed for these contracts, which are open ended budget items, and how Haliburton won the contracts. Reason being, Dick Chenney refuses to go on record with any of this nd the GOA recently dropped their lawsuit trying to compell him to.

No problem. Best of luck. I'm not at work today, our daycare provider is sick so I'm home with the baby. The point being, if you email me I won't get it.

My advice at this point is to google search to find coroboration on your facts from the most middle of the road sources possible. Better still is sourceing facts about shit like is on that site with the Wall Street Journal.
