In terms of solo artists of...
90s - Elliott Smith
80s - Bruce Springsteen (less based on fanship than mere respect for the stuff he made that didn't suck, that stuff was solid)

The Clash pretty much sucked in the 80s. I'm surprised so many people picked them. I would agree they were one of the best bands of the 70s, easily.

Whats with people on this forum and 80's Music?
80's music = Lets see how much fake music we can make with my new Synthesizer!!!!!!!
EDIT -
The Clash pretty much sucked in the 80s. I'm surprised so many people picked them. I would agree they were one of the best bands of the 70s, easily.
I chose Clash because they were more recognised in ther eighties. eventhough they made there best recordings in the 70s(I credited them for that), they really didn't fit in with my fav. 70's bands.

maybe if you weren't a snot that needed 80 minute guitar solos you would realize the greatness of punk and post punk that was all over the 80s. just becuase maddona and flock of seagulls were in the 80s doesnt mean everything is synthesizer driven crap.

I know the "greatness" of punk, you ass. But people make it sound like the 80's was full of all this great music. It wasn't, there was a hell of a lot more crap than anything good.
