I dont get why people think he's this film genius. I just saw Clerks and Chasing Amy. They are not as people think. I cant beleive people think this shit is "edgy". I've seen more edge on a butterknife. I condemn anyone who admires this sub creatures films to the 10th level of the colon of hell.

anyone agree with me?

I'm just sick of listening to people reference the Buddy Christ.

Clerks is a great movie. I also liked Chasing Amy. If you are going to beat down Kevin Smith you might as well go after Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back or something.

Clerks and Mallrats are my favorites of his.

Clerks is good. I loved Chasing Amy when I saw it in high school, but I'm afraid of ever watching it again. Mallrats I know the only reason I like it is for nostalgic reasons. Dogma is crap, and Jay and Silent Bob would be amazing if it were edited down to 22 minutes. So that makes it as funny as Scary Movie 3.

I liked Dogma :/. It wasn't his greatest but I thought some moments were funny and fun to watch as a whole.

Clerks is a great flick. After that, he quickly went to shit. There's only a few moments in Mallrats and Chasing Amy that are worth watching.

Dogma would have been much better if Smith had replaced Linda Fiorentino with someone who actually knew how to act. Smith is a better actor than she is. Fiorentino is the female Keanu Reeves. >:

:/ - I've seen three of his films. The typical teen comedy, Mallrats, the disappointing Dogma and arguably his best film, the raunchy comedy Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.

I've never heard anyone call Kevin Smith's films "edgy."

Clerks was great. It's got that very natural feel to the characters, combining a great mix of comedy and feeling. Mallrats was really stupid, and admittedly so by Smith himself. But for all intents and purposes, it's a fun movie if you take it for what it is. Chasing Amy was similar to Clerks, but was a more serious story and one I enjoyed very much. And Dogma was a train wreck that suffered a great deal from too many ideas and poor editing (though I still enjoy watching it with audio commentary). Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back was fucking horrible.

Kevin has a lot of potential, but Clerk sprung him into the limelight so fast, he hasn't had a chance to develop as a real film maker.

"arguably his best film, the raunchy comedy Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back."

What the fuck are you on, you fucking moron? Seriously, "arguably his best film"? Maybe if you're blind, deaf, and smoke crack 24/7. Jay and Silent Bob Strike back is ARGUABLY one of the worst films ever made. Not only is it unfunny, it's actually worse than having your nuts run through a blender.

Clerks was like "my moie" when I was younger, now I still enjoy it.

Mallrats was decent, but didn't go anywhere.

Chasing Amy was good, but it left me down in the end.

Dogma could of been a good movie, but it need major rewrites and better actors.

Do I really have to comment on the other one?

It could be who I was watching it with that making my "Smith Experience" bad. He was all "this shit is so edgy man" and he kept cracking up everytime Jay said "fuck". I'll try watching them again. this time alone.

i cant get through the horrible acting in clerks. everyone who has a hard-on for kevin smith is like yeah well the acting is bad but the writing is great. the script could be tremendous but in my opinion it doesnt matter if you have these shitty actors. and some of the dialogue in that movie is so verbose to the point where its unrealistic.

im not a fan of his, and im glad because i cant stand these die hard kevin smith fans. i live in jersey and these are the kids that drive an hour to go to the video store from clerks and think they are so cool for doing it. ive had enough arguments over whether or not he is good with kids like this that i just loathe anything involving his name.
