My dad works with this guy who bought one of those projectors to do a powerpoint presentation with for work. It cost him $1000 and he only used it once for about 2 hours. He is now selling it, and said I could have it for $500. What do you guys think about projectors for movies and gaming and stuff. Should I do it?

I seriously doubt it would be worth it for $500.

Buy it and resell it for $650. Reasonable price if it's in good condition.

It's in perfect condition, and I haven't seen any other projectors for sale online anywhere for under $1000.

Plus I have my graduation party in a few weeks, and I'm just going to buy it with the money from that. If I decide later that I don't want it, I'll just resell it on eBay or something.

The projectors are good, but only if you have a decent screen/wallspace for it. There's no point in getting one if you're just going to project it onto a 40" space.

They can also be fussy. >:

thanks for mentioning the bulbs. I looked them up online, and they only last for about 2000 hours, and they cost about $600.

Also, I read a lot of bad reviews about the picture quality of this particular projector.

I'm actually quite dissapointed now. :(

you can get some decent brand new projects for under 1000 now, I think infocus makes one. Also the dell ones are supposed to be pretty good and i think they have one right at 1k

I was only interested because this one was only $500. I guess I'll stick to my regular TV for awhile.

My friend ordered some shit to experiment with making a box that will magnify and project your existing TV image onto a wall. Depending on his results, I might do that.
