Ronnie and Vinth: A case study in hysteria

Anyone should feel free to contribute to this thread. Max has more of an expertise on the Vinthius Zebatus species, so I'll talk about Mr. Raygun.

What's with these two lately? I mean, they've always been blinded by party loyalty and hatred for those who disagree with them, but lately it has been out of control. With Ronnie in particular, there seems to be this hysterical sense of panic and urgency. It seems like he thinks if he posts rapid-fire rhetoric about John Kerry's Vietnam record, his wife's connections to various non-profits, etc., that he'll be able to convince the world that John Kerry is evil. On top of this, he posts things entirely in caps, always from some conservative mag owned by Rupert Murdoch or a South Korean cult leader, intended to create "good feeling" in regards to our nation's status.

"ECONOMY IS SOOO GOOD, LIBERALS IN TROUBLE."
"I DON'T LIKE POLLS, BUT HEY, THEY'RE ALL GOOD."
"IRAQIS LIKE TO BE TORTURED AND OCCUPIED"

etc.

You know, Bush's approval ratings are at their lowest. But you have a point. I have to wonder why Ronnie is so driven to post all these articles. Does he really think he's going to change our minds? Or is just trying to be a pain in the ass?

They both define theselves through opposition, I think for slightly different resons. Nalds wants to be the one who knows, and Vinth wants to hate you because you're a dumbfuck. Nalds wants to be there to rub your nose in it and say, see I told you so. Vinth would like to see you suffer because evevrything you care about is dying and then he could laugh.

Nalds is getting hysterical. Vinth is stark raving mad.

ronnie, on the other hand, is a good guy. since he's started posting, I've started coming back to this board. it was just too boring here for a while, like the political board at docweasel.

Ronnie just just being very sarcastic guys. He thinks that the Bush admin. is just as much as a joke as the rest of us. Why would anyone proclaim their political opinion like a 14 year old? I mean posting news articles from geocities websites and showing us 2 pictures of "american soldiers" with "happy Iraqi kids". Not to mention all the nauseating propaganda.

I think he understands on some level why his post titles "work"- apparently distancing himself from his intentions is supposed to incite a certain degree of ontological uncertainty in the reader, which has an added effect of shielding himself from certain types of criticism. We can also see this technique attempted by OAO in (some) his poorly-received attempts at humor.

Unfortunately, some people fail to realize that HEY GUYS ALL CAPITALS was never funny.

When pressed to support a contention himself as opposed to making broad statements that can't be in any way proved or posting op eds, Naldo generally resorts to a technique that Vinth uses;

"I don't have to prove anything to you. You're so smart, figure it out yourself."

Thedifference, and the reason Nalds comes off as irritating as opposed to imbecilic is that Nalds uses that gambit consistantly and immediately when challenged. Vinth usually only goes that route once he's already painted himself into a corner.

This quote sort of got my attention. One, it shows a complete ignorance in regards to electoral history, ideology, the nature of our two party system, etc.

Secondly, it seems that Ronnie is stuck in this constant state of "majoritarianism." He constantly sees himself as being with "the vast majority" on everything, even though he can never actually quantify or substantiate anything he ever says.

What is the cause of this? What would cause someone to simply accept things they are forcefed, without feeling the need to objectively discern its validity????
