It all looks good on paper, perhaps. But it really sounds like way too many wild ideas that have a very good chance of either being done horribly, or not making it into the final produce. Kind of sounds like the N-Gage. :/

i agree, it seems a little too risky for nintendo, at least it will be compatible with old games so it shouldnt be a complete failure.

at least this kinda innovation is waht the video game industry needs.

I just want to get the gameboy adapter for the gamecube. That thing rules. I don't travel enough to warrant buying any of the portable systems, no matter how spiffy they may be. Besides, I still have my old Atari Lynx and that destroys all of other portables. :o

I really REALLY hope they can pull this off. If they can do everything they promise i would buy this in the drop of a hat. God it sounds amazing, and everything i wanted in a handheld.

In fact awhile back i had an idea to market a cord and some software that would allow you to connect your gameboy to the net and play games online, but it never took off. The Multiplayer they are talking about in DS is similar to what i wanted to do, but wireless.

If they pull it off- GAMING PREFECTION

I doubt it'll last long because all this system is used for is an experiment to see how they should work with their predacessor to the GBA.

I don't see this surviving long. Not that it's a terrible idea, I just don't see the industry supporting it. The features it offers will either be utilized by developers as an afterthought or not at all. Developers want to make money - making money means porting their titles to every console available (GBA, soon PSP and DS). There is already a huge user base for the GBA, so developing for GBA is safe. Making a title depending too much on the new features of the DS isolates you from the GBA market, and it would be too difficult to port to something like the PSP because it doesn't offer the same features. My guess is that it will launch with a few good to decent first party Nintendo titles, lackluster support from third-parties with minimal use of its extra features, and in 6 months it'll just be a fancy looking GBA. Who knows though - if it has a truly killer app that takes advantage of the wirless networking, it could work out great.

I don't like the map double screen thing. That means EVERY game will likely have a map or something at the bottom of the screen. It looks from the shot a GBA and GBA SP combined into one. I'd be happy if they changed the design to one screen, but kept all of that other shit. :(

And that's just for third party games. I watched a special on G4 that featured Mario Kart, some kind of weird giant Mario, and Animal Crossing... even more good things to come, it seems :)
