Why do we care? Is it being broadcast nationally? How many murders are there in any given year and why is this one so notable?

:( - Because the Juice hasn't hacked off anyone's head lately and the bloodsuckers at CNN are hungry for ratings.

I honestly had no idea what you were refering to, then I looked it up and remembered.
It is a pretty twisted story. Pregnant woman found decapitated in a river, fiance was cheating, playing with the cops etc etc.
Made for a nice little true life soap opera.

The media only pays attention to the exceptionally grisly murder cases. Clearly the lesson is: if you're going to kill somebody, do it with some GUSTO! Chop off a guy's dick like Lorena! Empty several rounds of ammunition into your parents and reload like Eric and Lyle! You want a TV movie don't ya? DON'T YA?

But the Juice...he played football, surely thats enough evidence for his acquittal.
And if not, c'mon...its the Juice. Everyone loves the Juice.

Why do we care?
I was totally going to say something along those lines when I saw the subject of this thread.
Suggested reasons:
1. Beacuse it invovled the "murder" of a fetus.
2. Because it happened on Christmas.
3. CNN ran the George Tennant story into the ground, and they really didn't have anything else to talk about today.
I really don't know.

Slow news week?
Ever since I saw a piece on some Alabaman high school kid who could make farting noises with his hands on national news (international, actually, since I'm in Canada...), I have lost all faith in the American media. :(

Trust me I've heard much worse stories when I worked for the PD, which is why I'm truly baffled why this one is so notable. Her murder is bad, but not really grisly.
Grisly would be the man who cut off a woman's tits and stabbed her in the vagina 46 times (true case).

I think it became such huge news because having the headless, decomposed body of a woman wash up on a beach along with the remains her 8 month old fetus which was expelled by the gasses in her decomposing corpse in a coffin birth is really fucking creepy.

Now we just need an Asian to murder his wife and dump her somewhere and leave a suspicious amount of evidence against him so we can air it and Dat Phan can use it as one of his jokes in 4 or 5 years.
