I used to play this all the time, but I just kind of stopped paying attention to it. Seeing as my deck was worth like $500 at the time I stopped playing, it kind of seems like a good idea to investigate its current status. Is it still popular anywhere? Is the secondary card market still thriving? Have the contestants in the tournaments learned to bathe yet?

You're posting in all the wrong forums. :(

M:TG has gone underground, kinda. Well, where I live it has, anyways. I've talked to a lot of guys about the "good ol' days" and there are a lot of people who'll admit to having a Magic deck and a shoebox full of cards. Younger kids don't want to play it, though, and would rather play the gay Pokemon shit rip-off garbage.

They also kept introducing new rules all over the place--alienating a lot of the older players--and started putting rule explanations ON the actual card itself. Then they started introducing crazy powerhouse cards that were powerful all by themselves, not in combo with other things... no more strategy involved. Now they've redesigned the cards completely and they look like shit. It's a pathetic attempt to

There are still a few times I see guys playing at university, but you won't find anyone under 16 who even knows what Magic is anymore. I stopped buying them shortly after Stronghold came out.

You can still sell your cards, but unless they're some of the old pre-4th edition things or the ultra rares, they probably won't be worth very much.

To what? TO WHAT? :(

I used to love the cards, but I was more of a collector than a player. So when a new series would come out, I would buy them by the box. And then, yeah, around the time or Mirage or whatever, they started introducing a whole bunch of new rules and out-there shit, so I got sick of it. It seemed like they were trying to attract newer or younger players with easier-to-get cards that would rival all the older cards that they couldn't just continue printing.

Every now and then, I check out the price guide. All my cards just keep going down in value, because they either have newer editions or other cards that do almost the same thing. I have everything from Legend to Mirage, with some Arabian Nights, and unlimited cards.

My pride was an Unlimited edition Time Vault. :(
