Variety reports that New Line Cinema has greenlit Final Destination 3 by reuniting with franchise creators Glen Morgan and James Wong.

Wong directed the original film, which he wrote with Morgan and Jeffrey Reddick, in 2000. The second installment was directed by David R. Ellis and written by J. Mackye Gruber and Eric Bress. Both film cost only about $25 million and made $90 million and $70 million worldwide, respectively.

Co-writer Morgan and writer-director Wong have not revealed what kind of accident the third film will entail.

The stories in those movies are pretty horrible. The only decent thing (sometimes) are the death scenes. I think the best one I saw was when there was a broken pipe behind this girls head after she had just gotten in a car accident. It missed impaling her by mere inches. Then her airbag accidentally goes off and rams her head straight back into the pipe, instantly killing her.

:) yay for death :)

My favorite was in the first one, where Sean William Scott gets his head sliced in half by the piece of the car. That was hilarious.

I liked in the first one where the teacher got killed in her house like a BAJILLION times by mere household objects.

The novelty of the death scenes is great. Instead of some crazed maniac, it's just DEATH coming to get them through various accidents. Some of them are pretty outrageous, while others are just plain fun.

I thought the second movie played the "near-death" card too many times, though. And I love Sports' reasoning that since the first one was alright and the second one was pretty good, then the third one must kick ass.

the special effects were too good for me to think of it like the funny b-movie it should have been.

i never watched the sequel, and certainly won't watch the 3rd.
