View Full Version : Evanescence's Album Out Tomorrow

This is probably only of interest to me, Rog, and Doopa.
This is just a reminder that it's officially in stores tomorrow. I know when there's an album that I really want, I'd prefer to buy it versus trying to find quality mp3s of Kazaa (expecially considering it took me weeks just to find "Bring Me To Life" without wierd digital fuckups). Besides, I feel it validates my appreciation for a band to buy the album.
So, yeah. It's out tomorrow if you wanna buy it. I'm hoping to go to Best Buy and pick it up sometime this week.

Evanescense was here last night. They played the Festivale Internationale (Lafayette's answer to the New Orleans Mardi Gras fair)
Just sharing.

Definitely pick this one up at Best Buy if you get it, guys. They have it on sale for $9.99 this week.

What I picked up from the net sounded really weak.

I think the only reason people like this band is because of the vocalist. Bands with attractive female vocalists ALWAYS get tons of hype.

You're right about it being the female vocalist, but it has nothing to do with her looks. I love female vocals with rock music. Amy has a really fantastic voice.
Personally, I still like Anneke from The Gathering better, though.

I agree. I don't even know for sure what the lead singer looks like (aside from harsh lighting/photo manipulation appearances). I just like the music with a female vocalist.
Speaking of which, I still miss Drain STH. Best female metal group ever. :(
Edit: By the way, does anyone know if Origins is for sale, or any of their other albums? Fallen may be their debut album but they've apparently done a dozen or so cover songs, had 2 EPs, a full album that was sold at a concert (Origins), and a couple of compilation albums. And I want them. :(
Oh, and they're playing live on Jay Leno tomorrow (March 6th).

She's got one of the best voices I've heard in a long time. As for her looks, she's pretty, but not like a knockout or anything. Her voice is definitely what's carrying the band to where it is today.
It's just nice to see a band that's actually GOOD being played on the radio for a change. I've still gotta go out and get the album.
In regards to their older albums, "Origin" is no longer in print and goes for $100+. And then there's their first EP that they only made 100 copies of... I don't think you want to know how much it's going for now. Ahh, what the hell:

:lol
I don't know how long I'm going to hold onto my copy of it before I sell it. I'll probably burn some copies of it before I do...

Maybe they'll re-release Origin now that they've hit "the big time."
I'm working on downloading all the songs to burn to CD, but sometimes, it's just not the same as having the actual album. You know what I mean?

Amen, brother.
I hear that two of them started a new band though. Being lazy, I'm not gonna look it up right now, but I remember seeing something about it in Metal Edge awhile back.

Yeah, the bassist, and the drummer. :/
In other words, there's no resemblence to Drain STH at all.

Anneke from The Gathering
Nighttime birds or Mandylion hasn't been touched by any band with a female vocalist besides maybe Atrox. Extra points, Carnivore.

Speaking of The Gathering, have you downloaded any of their songs yet Mockery, you cockgoblin? >:

I have. :)
I've had "Leaves" on my computer for a while now.
Oh, and I got Evanescence's CD yesterday. Listened to it 3 times so far, and I love it.

I think I have impulse control issues. I literally spent seven hours with that CD on my headphones, playing the NES Legend of Zelda and being shocked as to how great her voice really was.
Evanescense, I mean.

Damnit, now I want to play Zelda while listening to that CD, that sounds like a damned good time.
And no Carni, I still haven't gotten their songs yet. I'm busy downloading some of Journey's greatest hits at the moment. :)

You may be interested in Lacuna Coil. They sorta sound like Evanescence.

Me? I already have some Lacuna Coil songs, they're pretty good.

Hey, that's uncalled for, as it's also an attack on me, and I was supporting you and your Journey-loving ways. :(

Alright, sorry to bump an old thread but this thread DESERVES bumping.
Seeing Evanescence live is a great experience, but hearing the album is just without comparison. This is just the most fucking beautiful thing I've ever heard in my fucking life. Believe the hype, this CD is just AMAZING.
All this coming from a metalhead :)
