Fucking shit! I love the Shenmue series. It is a fantastic piece of gaming glory. When Ryo said "Do you know where I can find any sailors?" I almost crapped my pants because you know that motherfucker means soome fucking business!

I prayed everyday for a Shenmue 3

You say "sailor", but you don't mean just ANY sailor, do you?

FUCKING YES! Shenmue is the best! Nothing like buying a can of fanta and turning down a game of "socca" with disturbingly old looking children.

Shenmue will never die. Unless someone kills it.

I like it in Shenmue 2 when Ren bets againts Ryo on fighting. Ren loses and Ryo is all like "That Ren"! You could just tell in his voice that he was so fed up with all of Ren's bullshit.

Shenmue is a cool series. I have Shenmue for DC and Shenmue II (PAL) for DC. Utopia boot disc and it's ready to go. Transferrable collection/moves as well! good stuff.

But sadly, in the DC PAL version, you don't get the hilarious English voice acting.

I like the Japanese voice instead. I'm sure the English acting is laughable but having subtitles with Japanese Dialogue gives it a more authentic feel for the type of game it is.

Maybe for the first one, but I don't see how every person in Hong Kong (and later Mainland China) speaking Japanese can be seen as authentic. Cool series though - I hope the 3rd gets made.

It's not like I can tell the difference.

I just mean keeping with the "Kung Fu movie" style that it has. Reminds me alot of 80s Kung Fu movies that my friends' family used to watch (no english subtitles on those though).

Just because you don't understand the difference between Chinese and Japanese doesn't make it more authentic. People would be speaking more English in Hong Kong than Japanese. If the game took place in France, I wouldn't expect everyone to be speaking German.
Were this game to make sense, Ryo would most likely be speaking more English (assuming he knows any) in Hong Kong than Japanese. When he got to Mainland, he would've been completely fucked. Just accepting that these villagers in a foreign country speak Japanese (or English) is a little ridiculous. Language should have been (or in sequels should be) an issue that Ryo has to deal with and overcome. Eating and going to the washroom would make sense too. And don't even get me started on why Hong Kong's major districts are mere steps from each other...
Admittedly, these weren't issues for the first game. It was a small town in Japan, so naturally everyone spoke Japanese, and getting from point A to B was feasible with walking (plus one bus ride).
I just think that since the Shenmue series prides itself on being realistic, Ryo should be forced to deal with reality, at least to the extent of the blatantly obvious.

Shenmue doesn't pride itself with being realistic, it prides itself on being the most interactive game to date. Even though the seconed game didn't take as much investigative work with the hidden clues and such as the first one, you can still inspect many a things in the game, not nearly as many though since it was focused in the volume and mini-game aspects. So it is not as strongly accentuated on being "Fully Reactive Eyes Entertainment" (FREE) and a little more of an "Adventure" game.

I am angry how they are thinking of making the 4th game into just a movie, but I am excited that they finally decided that , YES, they will do all 9 chapters of the Shenmue series (doesn't mean 9 games, since shenmue II covered 3 chapters).

Obviously it doesn't really make it more authentic but like I said it reminds me of old kung fu movies with the foreign dialogue.
