Have had it for a while, but bought it today. Definitely the best album yet this year. "Hummingbirds" is the tightest pop song in a while. Everyone should get this to learn about good music. >:

I'm so pissed I'm so broke right now, there's a ton of good music out that i can't afford, including some of my friend's cds (locally produced) >: And I'm even more pissed that Lollapalooza got shit-canned. >: >: >: >: >: >: >: >:

it costs money to print cds. if you have real friends, they will support you by buying your music if they like it.
same goes for shows that you do. you don't ask to hang out at your friend's job for free, either.

It takes a rare occassion for me to guest-list someone. people give me shit cause I make my girlfriend pay to come see me play. :lol

you guys are apparently total assholes... jesus christ.

I don't think so. My friends pay to see me play, I pay to see them... I pay my girlfriend to serve me drinks while she's working. I don't see a big deal at all.

i do. it's lame. but then, i guess i'm one of those rare people who don't like charging people for things unless it costs me a ton to provide for them. such as "performing live" or "giving away an album that cost me a dollar to make".
it's shitty enough we have to give our money to people we don't know because they're assholes (not that i've payed for a show or payed anything aside from my own albums in trades for music in ages). why continue the trend with your friends? maybe i'm just too "out there". i dunno. it sounds like something only a member of metallica would do to me.
i miss wilco's "box full of letters". only song of theirs i recall caring much for.

it's not like i'm driving around in a gold-plated lexus. anytime we play a show all of the money goes to paying for our practice space and equipment, etc.
we've made anywhere between 0 and maybe around 150 dollars at shows, maybe close to 200 with a night of good cd sales... but we don't bank any of that it all goes to expenses.
I've given plenty of cds away to friends, and I've also had friends and stranger insist on paying or paying more than the price I gave them for a cd.
It's nice to know that you have friends that support something that you do that is totally separate from the shit 9-5 job you might go to. If they're not willing to shell out 3-7 bucks to support you, let alone come and hang out with you... then I think that's a bigger "fuck you" then making them pay.

Seriously, just shut the fuck up. You know pretty much nothing about music, let alone good music, and need to fuck off.

Lollipolooza probably got canned because The String Cheese Incident started to really annoy the hell out everyone.

150 at shows? You should play in collage towns, most of the local bands around Iowa City make at least 400. But you will get annoyed by countless amounts of Dave Mathews requests. :/
I would like to hear more of Royal's neverending knowledge of music. :lol

I've lived in two college towns, and in both, most college kids are way more interested in going to the meat markets than seeing local music.
And iron mitchell, how was the show at the bld? are you playing there again anytime soon? I could walk there from my apt.

hey,
the show at the bld was excellent! we played outside and battled the train (which went by at least every 10 minutes!) with our noise! we fucking won! chairs were broken the fuck up during laundryroom squelchers. we had trouble, due to the sunlight baking our theremins, but we still made due (luckily, our improv skills are as decent as they are) and baked everyone's minds with shrill squawk-ba-gawk!
every band completely ruled. a pretty decent turn-out. good times and good friends.
we'll definitely be back. give us a few months. we're hitting virginia, north carolina, maryland, and pennsylvania next. and then a weekend in st louis.
maybe i can do something about kentucky and ohio after that.
hound dog's pizza fucking ruled, too!

I finally listened to the new Wilco and was very pleased with it. I was afraid it was going to disappoint me like the new Beastie Boys album, which sounds like Mixmaster Mike paid two high school kids with weed to produce the album.
