The new Civil War movie by Ted Turner (Yee-Haw lets make a movie!). 2 questions...

1) Is it worth the 3 hours and 40 minutes?

2) Does it have intermissions?

Not true. Not true at all. I love Gettysburg but hate Gods and Generals, especially since I read the book before seeing the movie. Aside from the glaring omissions (I won't even get started on that because I'll go on forever) the movie was far too focused on Jackson while the book had equal time dedicated to Hancock, Chamberlain, and Lee. The book put great emphasis on the missed opportunities and poor command decisions of the Union. This was mostly told through Hancock but was sorely lacking in the movie. The movie may as well have been called Jackson. It was one-sided, totally unlike the book. Jackson was well-portrayed by Lang and his experience in the Civil War is certainly worthy of its own story, but that's not what Gods and Generals is supposed to be. Read the book.

Plus there's that scene where the guy is singing "Bonnie Blue Flag" for the Confederate generals. That's just so gay.
