Ex-Enron CEO Kenneth Lay Surrenders to FBI
By KRISTEN HAYS, AP Business Writer
HOUSTON - Former Enron CEO Kenneth Lay surrendered to the FBI Thursday morning to face criminal charges stemming from the 2001 collapse of the energy company he founded and led to industry prominence.
Kenny boy is innocent until proven guilty, but this trial sure has been a long time coming. The best part is that in order to establish innocence, the lavishly recompenced Lay will have to argue total incompetence and dereliction of duty as a CEO. It seems a damn shame that the Supreme court has allowed Dick Cheney to keep secret that people like Lay (perhaps people who ARE Lay), people who are at best compleetely incopetent and at worst criminal con men, wrote our energy policy.

Prediction: Outgoing President George W. Bush, in one of his final acts, pardons Ken Lay.

GIVE IT BACK, GEORGE: THE LAY LOOT THAT BOUGHT THE WHITE HOUSE
BUSH AND REPUBLICANS SHOULD GIVE UP ILL-GOTTEN GAINS
by Greg Palast
Thursday, July 8, 2004
When the feds swoop down and cuff racketeers, they also load the vans with all the perp's ill-gotten gains: stacks of cash, BMWs, whatever. Their associates have to cough up the goodies too: lady friends must give up their diamond rocks.
Under the racketeering law, RICO, even before a verdict, anything
bought with the proceeds of the crime goes into the public treasury.
But there seems to be special treatment afforded those who loaded up on the 'bennies' of Ken Lay's crimes. If the G-men don't know where the tainted loot is cached, try this address: 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Ask for George or Dick.
Ken Lay and his Enron team are the Number One political career donors to George W. Bush. Mr. Lay and his Mrs., with no money to pay back bilked creditors, still managed to personally put up $100,000 for George's inaugural Ball plus $793,110 for personal donations to Republicans. Lay's Enron team dropped $4.2 million into the party that let Enron party.
OK now, Mr. President, give it back - the millions stuffed in the
pockets of the Republican campaign kitty stolen from his Enron
retirees.

I don't think this is an argument for W. having to give back the money Lay gave him. I think it is an argument for placing W. himself in tghe public treasury. Then they could auction him off. I myself would pay 50.00 at least for W. I'm all out of big, greasy, sacks of crap.

I agree. Since Enron is second only to World Com, you didn't see anything like this happen during the Clinton administration.
This was a financial disaster that affected the economy of the entire United States, and therefore the world. Ken lay almost certainly influenced our nations energy policy. Harken Oil, although on a much smaller scale engged in the exact same shell game, buying and selling corporations tht were nothing more than names to itself to increase the appearance of profit when they were failing.
So, yes. Nothing even remotely like it.

Actually Bush didn't throw anyone in jail. The U.S. Justice Department prosecuted them because there wasn't another choice. World Com was like some small town idiot who thinks that since his daddy is the sheriff he can kill eight people and get away with it.
