View Full Version : MUSIC REVIEWS SITE HELPER

Mockery
Jul 29th, 2004, 07:26 AM
As we're getting ready to relaunch all of I-Mockery on the new server, the 3 review sites will finally be opening back up for business as well. Right now though, we don't have a Music Reviews "review approver" on staff as far as I know, because I think whoreable is too busy nowadays. Anyone interested in the job? Basically, it just requires you to approve 5-10 reviews per week and upload a few album cover images. Nothing too hard or time consuming.

We're going to be relaunching I-Mock on the new server this coming weekend, and pending all goes well, I'm gonna need a Music Reviews site helper pronto.

Thanks in advance to all who offer to help out...

if you get terribly desperate, i'll do it. i'm on tour a lot, but i'm sure i can easily do it if it's more of a weekly thing than a daily thing. i probably won't be your best pick, unless you really get shit upon.

i'll sign up with just a touch more enthusiasm than iron mitch.
if someone ***wants*** it, then its more than me,

but if i do get it i wont go half-assed.

Helm worked on it for a while, but I think he either got too busy with other things or he got lazy/bored with it. I'd love to have him still work on it, but I need someone who can approve 5-7 reviews per week. It's not asking a lot, but the updates need to remain that consistent.

And in case you were wondering, Dr. Boogie is handling the classic game reviews site and Ninjavenom is handling the movie reviews site.

Heh, you left broken images all too often and you didn't really "check" the reviews... you more or less just logged in and approved them without filling in the blanks or making corrections where needed. Granted some reviews are still gonna have errors 'n stuff even after editing it, but oen of the review site admin's few responsibilities is to help cut down on that stuff.

I'd happily take the job. I have a ton of free time, I'm pretty literate, as far as I know. Plus, I majored in uploading images on the Internet.

i would not rely on milhouse he using goonse which can crash from time to time, leaving you site in shambals.

Im not asking for the job, though, jsut pointing out a fact.

When you run a website, you don't need to remote link from another uploading service, Mark. :rolleyes

Ok so you're really interested in doing it then? Cuz Rez said he'd do it but "if someone ***wants*** it, then its more than me". And by the sound of your post, it sounds like you have both the time and the desire to work on it. Not that it takes much work, but if it's something you'd be interested in doing and have the free time to approve a few reviews each week, that definitely helps.

Yeah, I'm really interested actually. :)

If there's a bunch of HTML involved then I couldn't do it. Otherwise I have all the time in the world.

Wait, if Photoshop skills are necessary, then I can't do it. Sorry. :(

But if not then I'm still up for the job.

and anyway it's reading like i'd have to run a site, which i have never ever done before.

i was all set to approve things and add them if they were easy, but if it involves any site running, esuohlim sounds more... competent.

but if it is just approving people's rants, then i'll still do it, coz i want to know more about music.

What a horrible job. It would only be worth it to be called "staff."

I'd be happy to help still, but not only am i very busy, im also very lazy. So bascially I can still be a back-up, but i cannot be depended on. :(

Ok, let's start over here. This is what the volunteer music reviews approver position entails:

1) Go through the newly submitted reviews, check them for grammatical errors, spelling errors, left out form fields (such as if they forgot to say what genre the CD is or whatever), etc. Then approve the reviews by clicking a simple button.

2) Get album artwork for each CD (you can usually find it on amazon.com or wherever), import the graphic into photoshop and resize it to 122x122 and put a 1 pixel white border around it.

3) Upload the image to the server with a simple upload script we have installed.

That's all there is too it. Easy as hell really. So now that you see what it entails, who is genuinely interested in helping out with it?

I'd be willing to do it. I'm knowledgeable about grammar and spelling and fun stuff like that. I also have the time to do something like this, given that my schedule is fairly empty when I'm not at work :(
