View Full Version : What do i do?

I fear that i may have latent mental problems that are starting to come out lately. I don't want to get therapy because i have neither the time nor the money. And i certainly don't want to be put on any kind of medication. I have a few friends who i feel comfortable enough with that i would talk to them about this, but i am afraid what i tell them will scare them. I really am afraid.

See a counselor. Really, if you feel you are displaying symptoms of some mental disorder, seek professional help.

Can you tell us what these symptoms are?

Just watch a few movies about coming out of the closet. If you tell your friends right away, you might not be able to resist the desire to touch their penises.

Also, see a psychologist. Psychiatrists throw pills at you.

The symptoms are swinging from depression to mania, feeling disconnected most of the time. Like i am watching a movie filmed through my eyes. I hear voices at night, they seem so real sometimes i look around to see who is yelling at me. I can't sleep because my brain is making all these elaborate scenarios in my head. I can't turn it off, it just keeps playing and if i try to ignore it the volume just goes up.

That may not be a real problem. It may be just too much caffiene or a lot of stress.

If you are really concerned, see a professional. No one on Earth is qualified to diagnose you over the net. Go, sit down and talk to a person who has some real world experiencce with it. Not a student, a real pro.

I have practically no stress right now, that is the weirdest part is this is one of the most comfortable happiest times in my life. I am moving in a couple of weeks back to Tucson, Arizona (where i will be a sophmore University of Arizona as a Psychology student :lol). I don't think i will have the insurance to pay for therapy, and i certainly won't have the money. I assume at the university they will have some free counseling for students. If i am still bothered by then i will see one of them.

Volunteer for their experiments. You can get really cheap counselling as long as you're cool with a Master's student doing it.

You think too much. Stress of going to school and your lack luster sexual prowess have most likely put a dent in your pea sized brain.

go in to a major hospital and tell them that you wish to speak to someone. here, at the cleveland clinic, they have ways of bypassing payment. they let you work with interns who are not yet doctors, but are supervised by a doctor. since they are interns, they can't charge you...and usually don't.

and as suggested, seek the help of a psychologist first. they will give you the necessary tests to help determine if you should be put on medication. then you can go see a psychiatrist.

if you go to a doctor and they talk to you for a half hour and then try to prescribe you some kind of drug, RUN AWAY. do not fill a prescription until you have had the proper conversations with your doctors and have at least had a blood test.

the most important thing, though, is to go seek help. medical bills can be deferred, mental well-being usually can't.

Many towns/cities have graduate programs whereby you can pay five dollars for one hour counseling and if your a student you might be able to qualify for free services. Check your local mental health services for these schools.

I think ima wait till i move, and then seek some help at the university. My mom is trying to get me on anti-depressants but i will do anything to avoid this if i can. I am feeling ok now and it will prolly be a while before i start crying for no reason again.

Thanks everyone, and fartin if i knew what to do would i be asking people on the internet? I mean i have lots of people who care about me and would help me if i needed it but i am afraid to ask them. I don't want to scare my friends and family.

I think i will be ok.

You suffer from the same problems that most other posters on these boards (incluiding myself) suffer from. A condition known as "Stupid"

It may be stress related, whether you realize it or not. One semester in college I was having a tough time of things, work oad, ya know, and I never really felt stressed about it. But my body manifested it in other ways, dizzy spells, very random anxiety attacks, etc.

Like Blanco said- we're all just blowing smoke from our asses. You need to se someone with real expertise.

YOur too young to give opinions. Shut up and get a life.

this was a positive and mature way to respond :) i only post on here because i think it's amusing and it passes the time. i also enjoy talking with most of the people on here. apparently you're pretty upset with most of the people on here, and most of the things that are said, and you take no enjoyment out of being here.

from what i've seen, you're too jaded to enjoy anything here.

so seriously, why do you post here anymore?

You're moving, you're starting a new year of school, you don't have money for any serious help, you think you're going crazy, and apparently you do some sort of drug(s)... Maybe you should turn on some Led and chill for a while.
