View Full Version : Should I call?

Last week I sent in my résumé for a job as a barista, which I really want to land. They called me while I didn't have my phone, but I went to talk to them soon thereafter so I didn't miss anything. So, it's been since last Wednesday since I spoke with them and had my interview, so I'm thinking I should contact them.

So, should I look in my phone's missed call log and call the dude's cell phone with whom I interviewed? My gut feeling is yes, that'll show that I'm interested, but the other side is that it seems to be the guy's personal cell phone so he might not appreciate business calls or something. I dunno.

What should I do?

If you're afraid that it's a personal number, why not just go back to talk to them like you did before?

Because the place isn't officially open yet, and people are only there by appoinment.

ahh i see, fuck it, i'd just call him then, and be very cordial and apologetic if it's a personal line. I don't think there's anything wrong with that given the described situation.

Did they even say they'd call you you back?

I don't remember. :(
The guy said I'd probably get the job, though.

Well with my job they said they'd call within a week. It was about 9 days but they still called and hired me. I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem to call, cause it's not your fault that you have no other numbers to contact them by. :/

Yeah, it can't hurt to call. If you didn't get the job, you're allowed to ask why.

A Barista is fun! I used to be one about 7 years ago at a little coffee shop. It's where I met my true love :)

Yeah, I was one senior year of high school and thought it was great, but there were a lot of problems caused by my boss. Ah well.

I called and ended up leaving a message. Damn people don't pick up their phones.

How long 'til the place opens?

Either one week or two weeks from today. I forget.

You should stay on top of that, just to make sure they remember you. I always file the person who keeps coming back and calling on the top and make notations about their commitment to following through.

My dad always said "the squeaky wheel gets the grease."

Dunno. Maybe he was talking about ass fucking and I never wanted him to clear that saying up for me.

You should call again if he doesn't return your call in 2 days. Most management doesn't want employees who leave loose ends. If it's a personal phone, he gave you permission to contact him on it when he called you from it, unless he gives you a different number.

"You'd better hurry up. In 20 minutes this place is becomming a Starbucks."
