Would anyone be interested?

The way I was thinking, was that me and 4 others would converse over AIM, and actions and the board map would be shown via a constantly updated image.

:(

I have a program that has all the quests from all the expansions and shit in it, but it's not online-playable. But it could be helpful.

There need to be more board games online. I used to play Monopoly and Clue before the site's shitty programming caught up with it and the whole thing fucked up.

i played that back in the day. so i am also interested. how are you going to do a constantly updated image? maybe with a webcam or something?

edit: nevermind. i only have aim on my home comp and to make a long story short, my video card is fucked. so i doubt i could even see what ever thing you came up with. unless it only had 16 colors...

Hmm... doing something like this is very possible. I never played HeroQuest, though, so I don't know the rules are. Some of my friends had it, but I never got a chance to play. :(

But, I had a game called Dark World and it seems to be very similar.

I've thought about programming something like this for the web where the DM would set up a board and then the players would get to go and shit. Games would be password protected to participate but visible to the public, etc... I might start on it after I finish my current webgame.

For right now, wouldn't just an image of the game board that the GM updates in Photoshop suffice (Just scan in the board and splice it together)? I could code up a random dice roller in a few minutes for this.

i think you should do a web cam with the board.

But was hero quest really that great? i mean i remeber staying up late in middle school and playing it with my friend, but i dont knwo how much fun it would be now, especially with all the work required.

but i think someone shoudl program it in php and make it a web game. That might actaully be a decent time waster.

Well, the way I was thinking was just having a jpg layout of the map, and then using Photoshop to move the pieces around. It does sound like it could be more tedious than fun this way, though. So we'll see. But the game is fucking fun, and I just wanna be able to play it with others again. :(

Chimp, it's fairly easy to figure out. You play as one of four characters (Dwarf, Wizard, Elf, Barbarian), and as a group of four, you navagate a level to complete the quest for that mission. Aside from moving and attacking, there are a few other actions you can take each turn, but they're simple enough to understand (like opening doors, or searching for treasure).

haha i wonder could you set up a webcam that the people playing can watch, aimed at the board :D

If I HAD a webcam.

Besides, I doubt it'd be easy to tell whats going on via webcam.
