if this thread was "shitty movies with overrated fanbases" then you would both be right.
Underrated movies that I consider viable are:
Desert Heat
Tango and Cash
The Usual Suspects
Captain Goodtimes

Me too, by lesser extent I meant that Revolutions wasn't as underrated because it wasn't as good as Reloaded.
if this thread was "shitty movies with overrated fanbases" then you would both be right.
What the hell is an overrated fanbase? Everyone suddenly hated those two movies, starting a couple of weeks after Reloaded came out, and it was all either people feeling smarter for hating them or just crybabies who felt their precious favorite movie was destroyed.

That's the same movie that's sometimes labelled as Léon, right? Great movie, except someone here told me about deleted scenes that have Natalie Portman trying to get Leon to have sex with her or something, and now that's always in the back of my mind when I see that movie.
Another one I find underrated: Blair Witch Project. And I'm not interested in discussing it so blah.

Gods and Monsters
Harold and Maude
Ed Wood
Babe and Babe Pig in The City (shut up, they are great films)
Arsenic and Old Lace
American Movie (a lot of people here appreciate it, though)
Iron Giant
Top Secret!
Wet Hot American Summer (again, not to the people here!)
To name a few. These are movies that are so hard to get people to watch, but when they finally do, they are suprised at how much they enjoyed them.

It's weird, everyone who I've told to watch it just refused for the longest time, but when they eventually do they kick themselves for not having seen it earlier.
Boondock Saints is another movie like that (one that I put off seeing and am kicking myself for it now).

Loved that film too, a real shame it didn't do well. Although I only saw the last 45 minutes of it, I walked away feeling totally positive. If I had seen it as a kid it might have been different, but I def- do remember enjoying the story upon which it is based as a kid.
I'd give most promotion to The Big Bus, it was a forerunner to the Airplane movies. Although it contains similar jokes and plot, I enjoyed it more, but did see this before either Airplane.

The Adventures of Remo Williams was really underrated in my opinion, big fan of that flick.
Another interesting movie, although mostly unheard of, was Timequest. It got smashed in reviews but I found to be a very unique look at the "what if" scenereo.

Meet The Feebles is OVER rated as fuck. I was completley bored by it, and people only pretend to like it so they can describe it to their friends. CUZ ITS SUCH A CRAAAAAYZY MOVIE!
8 Head In A Duffle Bag is boring and stupid
HighSchool High is one of the Zucker Brother's worst films.
Encino Man was like a hugeish hit, It was like Pauly Shore's Ace Ventura.
The Big Lebowski: Considering every college faggot in the world has seen this movie and you can buy posters for it at any tower records, I'm going to call bullshit on this.
Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb: what Mr. McGoohan said :x

Boondock Saints and MST3K: The Movie would've been my top choices.
Both are extremely good for the genre they're in, and both are basically unseen unless you hang out with a bunch of message boarders.
Maybe I'm not the best person to talk to about this. I think basically almost all Troma movies (except Cannibal, once South Park got big, everyone went out and saw this and locally, stupid kids have turned this into another Monty Python and the Holy Grail) are underrated. Not because they're 'great cinema', but because it's campiness at its best.

Those are both OVERrated if you ask ME. :x I rewatched the MST3K movie recently and I thought it was exceptionally weak compared to episodes of MST3K.
