I just listened to Portishead Live in the NY Rosebowl, and my God what an angelic voice that Beth Gibbon has. Sometimes I need a voice like that to listen to when I need to get my mind off earthly stuff. You probably know how it is. Do you know any songs that make you fall in love with the girl singing it every time? I kind of have to admit that Portishead is just about the only one I can think of right now, and surely that ain't right.

Kate Bush? You might like the Massive Attack woman also. Maybe Lisa Gerrard from Dead Can Dance?

I wouldn't know. I hate women.

Thanks Helm. Kate Bush is not my thing at all. Massive attack is okay. I thought about this the other night in bed, and I think I should probably listen to opera or something for those kind of voices. If only the songs didn't completely suck...

I'm on the Lisa Gerrard site, and she sings really nice. I'll download some mp3's of hers.

ella fitzgerald, for real, mc mock. her range is amazing.

also, bjork...but she takes a bit of getting used to and can also get a little wild on some of her more upbeat songs.

women are condemned to insuperior death metal vocals forever though, yet they proceed to do em, and double track like 62 times to make their voice bigger than it should be. But men fail in the clean vocals department, not that it matters, clean vocals suck.
