Halloween banned - to save witches' feelings
US schools have banned Halloween because officials are worried about offending real witches.
Students who turn up in costume could be sent home from schools in Puyallup School District in Washington state.
Officials told a local TV station that followers of the Wiccan religion had complained about the way Halloween was celebrated.
Spokeswoman Karen Hansen said: "School officials have been reviewing the Halloween tradition and decided that time could be better spent.
"Schools are teaching students to be respectful and take account of the discomfort felt by others. Witches with pointy noses are not respective symbols of the Wiccan religion."
The authority was also concerned that Halloween wasted valuable class time and that the costumes were too expensive for many families.
This just in -- Wiccans are puss-bags.

"Real Witches" classifying those three kids who light candles behind the lockers and carry around 40 dollar books with unpronouncable titles.

Oh my God. That is fucking insane. That's changing-classic-literature-to-avoid-offending-kids-who-are-allergic-to-peanuts insane.
For fuck's sake, someone set fire to all these people. Indiscriminately.

It's all fun and games until someone gets offended.
Seriously, that should be like the US motto now or something. On... the presidential seal. I guess.

Note: they were Wiccan community members, not Wiccan parents or children. You think a little kid calling her(him)self a witch and meaning it would survive in a public elementary school?
And... costumes were too expensive for many families
:lol

What the fuck? are they afraid the "real" witches will put curses on them if they pretend on Halloween? So does that mean we won't have thanksgiving because it offends fat poeple? St. Patricks day because of the Irish?

I was told that Halloween was created by the Protastants to mock the Catholics.

David, you're so wrong you spelled Protestant incorrectly.
And fucking Christ, school can do away with Halloween when every single kid who says "you're a fag" or "that's gay" buys themself a three-day suspension. Political correctness doesn't lead to a happier world, it leads to widespread hypocrisy and further reason for the homo with the pentagram to get his ass kicked after school.
It's one thing to actively hate on people because they're Wiccan.
It's quite another thing to dress up as a witch for Halloween.
What's next, are they going to cancel winter vacation because it never fully aligns with Chanukah? I mean, Kwanzaa's covered, so we don't have to worry about those people, but greedy jews are bound to start complaining sooner or later.
:rolleyes

Leave it to the self-proclaimed intellectual to not figure out that anyone who can't afford to buy a costume from a store can probably still make a much better one more cheaply at home, thus making lack of money an awfully stupid reason for any child to miss out on Halloween.
And if the issue of poverty concerns you, maybe you should take that money you're planning to spend on a new bong or a bottle of absinthe and, I dunno, give it to someone who needs it?
