Chimp has a webgame! :O

Remember how we were all playing KoC and then it turned all gay and I said that I could make something better? That was over 14 months ago.

Since then, I worked on the game, stopped working on the game, started, stopped, and finally started again and rewrote everything from scratch, but this time with dozens of extra features that I never thought of originally.

Some of my CS friends helped me out with alpha testing and the game is stable and runs pretty good. The game is in open beta now, so anyone who is interested can make an account and start playing to help test it out. :)

The premise of the game is pretty simple, but there are a few twists that make it different from average web MMORPGs.

You have peasants which contribute to how much gold you get per turn. When you train a military unit, it uses up a peasant and reduces the amount of gold per turn that you can get (disbanding units gets your peasant back). Rather than attack points, your army has stamina. The more you attack, the lower your stamina gets, leaving your kingdom more vulnerable to attack.

There are melee and magic units and equipment that you can buy for them. Melee units can get equipped with a weapon, armour AND a shield. Some magic units can be equipped with more than one scroll, etc.

There are also siege attack/defense and fort upgrades.

Long descriptions of several features are already present on the forums for the game, but if there are any questions, I will answer them here, too. :O

There have been about 1000 separate attacks in the first 14 hours. The overall amount of gold isn't very much right now, so there are few resources available right now, AND everyone is still really close together in the rankings.

There's no difference between your power level if you are ranked 5 or 50 right now. Things should settle down in a couple days when there's more accounts and the rankings spread out more. You're not allowed to attack people who are really weak compared to you, but everyone is equal right now.

Best thing to do is get people to click your link so you get more peasants, join under a commander to get a defense bonus and retaliate. Most people are really weak on defense right now.

What error are you getting? If you're receiving the one that I'm thinking of, you should only be getting it if you tamper with the web form... or if you have some kind of crazy Internet connection that constantly changes IPs.

I should also point out that buying equipment will NOT improve your strength alone. You must have units to make use of the equipment. It's not like KoC where you could get a couple dudes and 5000 swords and be kicking ass.

Essentially, you only get that error if the IP that requested the Secret Link page is not the same IP that submits the form. This is to prevent people from saving the page and keeping a local copy of it to mess around with.

Your commander bonus is directly related to how strong you are compared to your commander. I had to do this because people were signing up new accounts underneath the #1 person and basically became invincible.

You are better off joining someone who is only somewhat stronger than you, as opposed to signing up under someone who owning the game. To that person, you are not worth defending at all since you contribute nothing to his attacks.

There's no turns in LoM. Your army has stamina, which you can see on your main profile page.

Attacking currently uses 1 stamina per attack, and you regain stamina at 2% per turn (30 mins). You can basically attack until your army drops from exhaustion, but the lower your stamina, the less effective your army is. For example, a 90% army will do a lot more damage than an equal sized 30% army.

Your stamina also affects the damage you do when defending. If you go on an attack binge and leave your army at 10% stamina, you will be slaughtered easily by everyone around you.

It's not as much as turns, but you gain stamina, which can be used to attack enemies for gold. You get 2% every 30 minutes, as well as gold (depending on how many peasants you have; 18 = 1,000 gold per turn). You can have up to 100% stamina.

I'm doing pretty well for myself this time around--I'm not skyrocketing up the rankings (I got up to 25 last time within twenty minutes of me playing :x ) but I'm also not making useless units. I only have two, and they're...adequately equipped, shall we say.

I'm thinking of not buying too many units and saving up for those reinforcement bonuses and stuff, THEN buying reinforcements with the insane amount of money I'll make on each hit, since the amount of gold you get seems to be determined on Attack Power.

I like peasants--right now I have 14, so I get 700 per turn, which isn't bad at all. I give the link to the same people every day and ask them to do it for me, and I get about eight per day that way.

I imagine they get way better when you're good enough that no-one can successfully steal from you, but as-is, if you weren't on my team I'd be cleaning out your pockets every 12 hours (had to stop myself several times, too, since Chimp doesn't show allies in green or anything on the rankings screen).

And i usually attack anyone and everyone until i get down to about 50% stamina and make about 40-70k per day like that.

It's not so much that you're sitting on money. It's that you need that little kick of income to get you up to the 1 or 2 thousand you may need to continue building your forces.

Right now, I have 3 peasants. I get 150 gold each turn. Before, making 50 a turn was too slow, and before I could reach a point in which the money would matter it would be taken. Thanks to this, I was able to buy weapons and armor finally for my troops, and RAPE THE FUCKING SHIT OUT OF PEOPLE.

I blew some money on making sure I produce 2 peasants a day, so that way I can train more troops while still making sure I don't go below 3 peasants. With the extra money I bought some whores and crack cocaine.

I just attacked a bunch of people to get about 9900 gold. I needed just a little more, so I attacked one more person. I come back, and I have 3000 gold. Someone took all my gold JUST as I'd gotten it. >:

So, I decide to try and use the gold I have left. But the fucking Blacksmith isn't accepting the number I'm putting it. And it's the right fucking number. Closed IE, opened it, and it works fine. You have to close and reopen your browser to buy stuff?

So yeah. Now I sit here for another 12-24 hours hoping I can get enough gold that won't be raped, so I can advance higher up.
