There's this weird fucking billboard here that says "A Woman Should Know Her Place" and it looks like it's smattered with blood. I can't figure out what the fuck it's supposed to mean or what the point of it is, but I was wondering if this billboard was anywhere else? (COME ON ALL YOU ILLINOIS FAGS I'M SURE YOU'VE SEEN IT :( )

One of my friends thinks it might be for a local jewelery store. Still, that's a weird fucking ad.

Now it sounds a tad familiar, but I can't recall any blood.

That or red paint... But it's probably blood.

Its probably part of the new anti domestic violence campaign i think i saw on the news. There are other things like fake makup adverts for covering up bruises.

MetalMilitia is probably right, but there was also this ad campaign for some fashion designer(s) where'd they'd photograph women set up to look like they died. Some of them were just in those artsy poses lying on the ground so it wasn't so obvious, but one of them, advertising a hat I think, looked like a photograph of a holocaust victim or something... so you never know, advertising is creepy.

Maybe you two can form a treehouse.
Or a 'garagehouse' out of respect to the structural integrity of the tree.
What I'm trying to say is that you're fat.

What I want to know is what guy is gonna start beating up his wife but then in the heat of the moment pause and go: 'no wait, the billboard was right'.

I think the campaigns are more aimed at trying to convince the women that it could end up a LOT worse than just a few bruises and that they should get the hell away from the pieces of shit who think a woman's place is at the end of his fist. The only thing that would help your average wifebeater is a nice, smooth sodium thiopental hypo.

Yeah, what I said was a bit of a joke. I thought the idea of a guy beating his wife up and then going: "duh. What I'm doing is actually a bad thing!" was funny.
Sadly little is gonna change with these campaigns because it's what makes a man a wifebeater that sometimes attracts a certain kind of woman as well and those women are really easy and are afraid to see reality, but anything that helps, is good, i guess.

They're asking for it, alright. As chlildren, they see their moms getting rib-kicked everyday and say to themselves, "I want a man just like daddy!" and then go out in pursuit of their soul mate so that they can live in bliss forever and ever ... the Ciiiiirrrrcle of Liiiiiiife.

believe it or not, my first wife used to try to beat up on me. and my wife now was a battered spouse, too. odd that we hooked up... my sister was a victim, too.
anyway, I can tell you from personal experience that the popular image of some fat redneck in a snot-stained sleeveless T and a beer in each hand just doesn't hold up these days. it can be anyone, anywhere.
I guess my point is that you, me, and everybody need to check ourselves if we start to get too intense when arguing with our loved ones. all it takes is one quick, stupid slap, and then you're in a world of shit. everything you've heard about wife-beaters in prison is true. if word gets out you're doing time for wife-beating, by the time you get out you'll be shitting cauliflowers.

Actually you are both wrong. There is no causation between being beaten and then seeking out those relationships. Usually it happens over time and occurs after mental and monetary manipulation which makes it harder to really discern what's bad byt the abused. They've found that those who were beaten as kids or watched their mother beaten as kids sometimes become hypersensitive to it and avoid those situations at all costs and even leave relationships without any beating if they sense any of that personality in their partner. No one WANTS that situation and to say someone asks for it is ignorant. Most instances when it's come to being violent, the woman fears leaving b/c then the man will kill her or the children. Most women who leave those relationships, I believe the stat is 80% but not quite sure, even though I know it's pretty high, end up dead by the hands of their abuser. There's so much more to it than "she asks for it".

It hasn't been replaced. They plastered over it with a sign for some spa. Youc an still see the original underneath it.
