My friend is in a local band and they have a ton of their own stuff, but they wanted to spice up their sets with songs from video games, preferably ones with lyrics. They aren't going for the lame overdone Mario/Metroid/Castlevania things, they want songs from other games that aren't necessarily in the mainstream.

The one I suggested was "Burly Heart", Potemkin's theme from Guilty Gear. I was fucking around with it on my Numark and with the pitch at +12% it gets pretty hectic and awesome. Try to imagine it, just sped up and at a slightly higher pitch. I think it'd make for awesome.

One he suggested was the "All Master Rap" from Parappa. The one where everyone really has to take a crap and you rap-off to get to the bathroom. The bassline, he said, is instantly recognizable and they'd just pass the mic to a different member of the band for each teacher, while the others continued to play on a different instrument.

The last one I suggested for him was "Room Of Angel" from the Silent Hill series. Again, it could definitely be sped-up and the vocals could be performed in a screamo fashion, considering the song has pretty morbid lyrics to it.

As you guys might know, I'm a fanboy for the three games mentioned above and my friend pretty much plays the same games I do, so we're kinda limited.

And don't say Halo, the lead singer of the band can't do it. :(

The band decided that they wouldn't do Ken's theme, after I talked with them about it.

They compiled a list of songs they won't try...

Main Theme (Halo)
Hollow Bastion (Kingdom Hearts)
Any Streets Of Rage song (Pisses me off, I really wanted to hear Back To The Industry)
You're Not Here (Silent Hill 3. Decided they didn't wanna butcher it)
Theme Of Laura (Silent Hill 2. Same as above.)
True (Silent Hill 2. Too minimalist)

I convinced them to do Fu-uga (Elegance), which is Anji's theme from GGX2 and my favorite song in the game. Very tough call between that, Suck A Sage and Liquor Bar And Drunkard.

Forgot to mention, the songs have to be performed by a bassist, two guitarists, a lead singer and a KEYBOARD :eek

They're thinking of "Simian Segue" from Donkey Kong Country, or whatever the first level's song was.

So far, the only two songs I recognize that you guys have suggested are Woodman and Angel's Thanatos. Woodman wouldn't work, though, I don't think. Thanks anyway.

I'll take a listen to all the other songs. Keep them coming :o
