FF VII help :(

i recently aquired this for my pc but the controls won't work because it requires use of a keypad andi have a lap top, i can't reset it does anybody know of a patch that fixes this for me? :(

I have a laptop and I managed to play the game, but I have a special key called Fn on my keyboard that when I press it allows me to emulate the keypad. Maybe you can find a software sollution that does the same.

Now the good news is that you can change the keys in the ingame menu, and play with the normal keypad and CTRL, ALT, normal keys. The bad news is that you absolutely must press keypad ENTER to get past the opening screen. Even when I had changed the layout of the keyboard, I still needed to press Fn+ENTER once before my alternate keyboard layout became valid.

I liked the materia system, it didn't cost as much as the faggy magic system in FF1-5(? haven't played it yet) because you could "recycle" materia onto your other characters every time you mastered it and it created a new one. Much better than having to buy all those costly spells seperately for your party.
