this review was well written, but with too much opinion in it. too much bitching about slipknot. and too much reference to nu-metal as being shit. like it or not, nu-metal is metal. just because you dont like it dosent make it shit. if you are going to be a genra whore and classify things, why not say that death metal isnt metal? or black metal? or fantasy metal? because to me, metal is megadeth. megadeth is stretch pants, frequent solos, and long hair. does that make limp bizkit (ugh) any less metal? no. so if youre going to genrafy something, do it right, without the prejudice.

I'd prefer that post with less opinion in it, thanks.

It's amazing how even the most metal of us like sic6sic need to put in a Limp Bizkit reference when talking about metal. I giuess it's all they've got to look down on. :/

Mushroomhead is gay. Listen to something good and you won't have these problems.

Limp Bizkit isn't metal. It's whiny wigger rap, like Linkin Park and Melissa Etheridge.

when did megadeth wear stretch pants, and they do solo's because they can, unlike nu-metal bands who dont know how to play their instruments. nu-metal is simpler then punk and is all about image. Their the hairbands of the new millenium.
(well they are cock-rock just look at limp biscuit's album chocalate assfish and try to tell me thats not a gay reference, maybe fred durst and phil from pantera can come out of the closet now and have a nice gay life together.) but what do I care metal sucks, porn-jazz is where it's at. get in the groove.

yes, fantasy metal.......armored saint, iced earth, blind gaurdian...etc....

and just because a band DOSENT play any solos, dosent mean that they CANT. mick, from slipknot is a guitar teacher, and understands the theory behind guitar. theres a VERY fine line between not soloing because you dont feel the need to try and upstage everyone else in the band, or try to force a solo in where it dosent feel right, and just using the absence of a solo to focus on other elements of the song. and besides, punk is the new hairmetal. (see: blink 182, new found glory, mest, even the new green day.) sorry, but punk, REAL punk, is dead. and has been since the mid-80's.

oh, and take a look at megadeth from the time they formed, to the late 90's. look at ANY pic of them. and notice that the jeans are so tight that they had to have -[stretched]- to be worn. hence 'stretch pants', nimrod.

Yeah.. it has nothing to do with the fact that Slipknot sucks. There's no place to put a solo in, because the composition of the music consists of slapping out-of-tune guitars like Animal from The Muppet Show. Only Animal kicks ass, and Slipknot does not.

Armored saint are not 'fantasy' metal. Please stop now. It makes me sad.

theres a difference between stretch pants and tight jeans jackass, stretch pants are spandex not tight jeans.

and fantasy metal (blind guardian, armored saint, iced earth.) thats called power metal not fantasy metal. fantasy metal :lol

And there's power metal that doesn't have to do with fantasy.

But the reasoning is very strange. Do you name genres based on what the lyrics are about?

Secular metal?

Happy metal?

Mute metal?

Ludicrously blapsphemous metal?

I love Mushroomhead, and I thought "XX" was a terrific album. The guitars aren't anything special, but "The Head" makes up for this with the use of keyboards and samples. The drum work is pretty damn good, and the two vocalists play off of each other very well.

I wouldn't classify Mushroomhead as nu metal at all. In fact, it's hard to put them in any genre, because the disc has a little bit of almost everything. Techno, Jazz, Death Metal, Rap, etc. Hell, they even cover Pink Floyd's "Empty Spaces." It's pretty damn good too. :rock

Linkin Park is to metal what Vanilla Ice is to rap.

Linkin Park is to metal what Vanilla Ice is to rap.

That's one hell of a compliment, seeing as Vanilla Ice is just so damn talented. :lol

I refuse to believe a mushroomhead album can contain anything even remotely related to death metal, in any way/shape/form. I also believe that Miss Mod's simile is quite lol. :)

I consider "Xeroxed" to be a death metal tune, though I don't listen to much death metal so hardcore fans might disagree.
