I'm thinking of preparing an haute cuisine dinner in January or early February. I'd like to make it an official French-syle seven-course meal, but I can't remember what the Frenchies understand that to be and the internet isn't being helpful. Anyone know for sure? My guess is that it's
Digestif (optional)
Appetizer
Salad
Soup
Main course
dessert and coffee
Cheese
Apertif
Advice on what to serve would also be helpful. So far I'm thinking:
Amaretto
Calamari
mixed greens
potato soup with bacon
Lamb on a bed of couscous
(no clue for dessert)
Goat cheese from Trader Joe's (it's so very good)
Bourbon
So, yeah. I've hosted only a few dinners and they went off rather well, but I've never gone to these lengths before.
