My Athlon 2500+ Barton is now running at 2.2Ghz (3200+ PR) /200mhz FSB & RAM (1:1). And i dont *think* its going to die a spectacular fiery death any time soon :)
All i need now is a 120mm fan and some Arctic silver 5 and i am all set.

i only increased CPU to 1.85v (default 1.65) and memory to 2.70v (default ..umm cant rember.. about 2.5v).
I think the PSU was just crap, it has always been kind of dodgey dispite bieng rated at 400w and relativly expensive.

On closer inspection (aka while pulling out the nice 120mm fan) i noticed that inside the PSU a capacitor and a resistor are blown so the fuse blowing should have stopped the board from getting fried. Well thats the theory :/

Metalmilitia's log - 21 December 04
There is an eary silence befalling my room, 3 days without a computer now, and the withdfrawl symptoms are starting to set in.
I have been wondering the house looking for a source of entertainment but alas after playing with my cat and a ball of yarn for 2 hours, wittleing myself a hunting spear, fashoning a crude powersupply out of twigs and a 240v powercable i have run out of things to do.
Just two more days..... two more days.

and to think you almost had two hours of fun before its spectacular fiery death.
you could try using the art of lies to get your mobo (music of black origin? :lol) replaced by the company as you got it recently, assuming it hasnt got massive scorch marks or anything.
my flatmate droped a screwdriver onto his motherboard when installing a new harddrive, after the pc failed to work he bought a new one, just as he was going to install it he noticed that the hard-drive was on the wrong setting, thus nothing was wrong with the motherboard. d'oh.

got my new PSU, motherboard seems fine but my windows HDD is dead :(
im gonna try and slave it and get as much data off it as possible but its not looking good. *sigh*
oh well its well overdue for a formatt anyway, shame about the 30 odd hours of HL2 maps on there but i guess these things cannot be helped.
Its going to be a long night.

You better hope that the surge of power all your hardware recieved when it blew didn't fry the fuck out of it all.

nope there was a fuse in the PSU which blew and prevented anything from getting fried. except my ram has been fucking up a bit recenty so mabey that was slighty affected.

Metal,
Something to try is open your case up, and make sure they are all seated properly (at 45 degree angles I believe) because you case may have actually jolted and knocked some loose. Somethinig similar happened when I dropped 1GB into mine, it was only showing me that I had 512MB because they all weren't seated properly.

I dont think thats the problem. Its probably just becasue im running the RAM at 200mhz when its supposed to be at 133. But screw it. it only messes up occasionally.
