You can probably still get all the stuff that was already on suprnova from here...

I imagine that they got hit with a server bill that was a few thousand dollars over what their ad revenue was. I noticed that over the last few months they plastered every free inch of that site with an ad. :(

Server fees? I doubt it. Then why would other major torrent sites (http://www.torrentbits.org/) go down at exactly the same time?

I bet they were pressured by the MPAA/RIAA with a lawsuit. Of course, Suprnova had the law on their side, but a legal struggle with the likes of the MPAA/RIAA does not make much financial sense. They probably promised not to bring them to court if they quietly shut down the site with a bogus (or no) reason.

On the other hand, I thought all of their servers were located offshore and they couldn't be touched...

The other likely scenario is this is just clever publicity stunt: freak out the warez community for a week and then come to their rescue when they release their Exeem torrent client. :cynicalbastard

Dude, 99% of the other torrent sites were cheap mirrors of Suprnova. They set up spiders to crawl the Suprnova site a few times per day, update their own database and slap their own ad banners on it to make money off of someone else's content. Not only did they do that, but they also directly linked to Suprnova's torrents, so it wasn't a true mirror.

No Suprnova, nothing for spiders to crawl, no cheap ripoff sites. :/

Ads pay next to nothing nowadays, and with so many sites leeching, I'm not really surprised.

You need it for more than two fucking days? Why don't you go to a video store when you wanted to see a movie right away, then that won't be such a problem. Blockbuster is usually very lenient on late fees now.

If it so goddamn hard to get off your ass and enter the outside world, get netflix or somthing.

DSL Reports grabbed a copy of the lawsuit threat letters sent by the MPAA to the bittorrent website owners. This latest document was sent to a Torrent site called 'demonoid.com', which is now offline.

Server fees my ass. Are you ever right?
