And I haven't seen any episodes yet, but I heard it was great. I just haven't bought the first season because I currently have 22 TV DVD box sets and I told myself I wouldn't buy anymore shows I've never seen before on a whim (like I did with SWC, UCB, and Mr. Show, even though I ended up liking them anyway). :( :(

it is totally improvised other than a few key points to direct the storyline. everyone on it sucks f*cking dicks and i hate them. it is supposed to be a wild documentary-style show following larry david around but instead its just really annoying people getting into unnecessary arguments with him. 90% of the time i watch it, i get a very bad headache.

Judging from the Seinfeld DVDs and how slow he talks because he's trying to find his words, I would think Larry David would suck at improvising. :(

They should call this show Larry David is a Fucking Asshole. The great thing about this show is that he's such a dick to everyone in the show, and since there's not a huge amount of interpersonal continuity, he always gets away with everything that he does. He's just a fucking ass.

My favorite moment: Larry is at an Incest Survivor's meeting with his ex-girlfriend because he's the only person she told about being molested by her stepfather, and she didn't want to go alone. After everyone has spoken, they all look at him and wait for him to say something. Rather than say he's there as a favor, he makes up a whole story about how he was raped by his uncle.

It's really the surprise element of the show that i like. Like you know he's going to get into an awkward argument with someone, but you don't really know what kind of horrible shit he's gonna get away with whenever you're watching it. :x

I bought the first season blindly, ended up selling it on ebay. I hate it for the same reasons hound did. BUT I agree the one hour special is a good show. It made me optimistic about the rest of the series. I watched all the episodes on disc 1 and hated them all.

I think you are so entirely wrong. I LOVE this show. I think it's amazing and I intend to buy it, and I don't buy much cause unlike you youth, I gots no disposable income.

I could go into why I like it, but comedy is subjective.

i like this show. a lot of people have mistaken larry david for an asshole but really, he's just completely misunderstood by many, viewers including.

i mean you saw how nice of a guy he is when he offered a homeless guy a tuna lunch but he refused because he didnt like tuna. a homeless guy refusing free lunch! now thats comedy.

I would try this show out if I had enough money to splurge on DVDs these days. It sounds like that I might like it since Larry David was the real genius behind Seinfeld, but it's not something that's at the top of my list right now. :/

CYE is nothing at all like Seinfeld. The only similarity I see is that George Castanza and Larry David are very similiar. Save for the fact that George isnt actually annoying as fuck and he can actually make me laugh because he's such an asshole. Larry David is an asshole but he's not a funny asshole. He's an annoying asshole.
