View Full Version : The road to Wrestlemania

So it's around that time for Wrestlemania to happen again, and I see a nice line-up of matches developing so far. Right now there's the possible main line-up:
World Heavyweight title
HHH vs. Batista (or someone else if he jumps to SD)
WWE title
JBL vs. Cena (vs Batista if he jumps to SD)
Kurt Angle vs. Shawn Michaels
Gene Snitsky and Heidenreich vs. The Undertaker and Kane
Matches that may happen:
Randy Orton vs. Christian
Chris Jericho vs. Chris Benoit
I'm gonna order it. :O

Also, they hired all but I think 2 of the Raw Diva contestants, doing stupid-ass roles, like Maria.
The only good peron out of it was Amy Webber, who is on Smackdown as JBL's image consultant. She can actually talk without sounding like a stupid whore!
But now she quit because the other wrestlers were teasing her and stuff. :(

They fired Nidia, Gail Kim, and Jazz. That left Trish Stratus, Victoria, Molly Holly, and Lita as legitimate female wrestlers.
They have NOTHING for Victoria and Molly. Given Molly's character, she's been on TV less times than you can count on one hand in as many months. Victoria has been reduced to a booty-shaking filler girl (she was on Raw the other night in the same capacity role as Christy and Maria; posing and looking pretty, without doing any ringwork).
The WWE is only focusing on Lita and Trish as female wrestlers, and now Lita is injured for another 6 months. So with nobody for Trish to feud with, Trish is hardly on TV either. And since she's a heel, they don't flaunt her about like they do Victoria.
So they have NO female wrestling roster. At all. We get one diva search winner, 2 diva search losers (who are SO airheaded and bad at acting that it hurts me), and Stacy. And any one of them is getting more air time than all the female wrestlers combined.

From what I heard, there's a rumor they hired this female wrestler to play the role as Lita's sister so that she fghts Trish for crap until Lita gets back.

My little brother has almost all of the old Wrestlemanias on original VHS tapes. 1-15 and whatever else. Some other old PPVs too including Summer Slam, Royal Rumble, etc.
I don't know if they are available on DVD though but they could be burned if I knew anyone with a DVD burner.

I saw at my Hastings store in the rental section for a DVD set containing WM 1-9. I think they would at least have them on DVD by now.
In other news, Brock Lesner is being a bitch. He's sueing WWE for not letting him get out of a contract THAT HE SIGNED. After the horrible match at WM 21, he left on good terms so that he can persue his dream in the NFL (which failed). Before he left, he signed a no-compete contract which says that he can't go to a different brand and do matches over there (like TNA). And the thing doesn't expire until mid-2010. Oh, plus he's married to Sable.

They should have Jeff Hardy come back as Lita's aborted baby, to feud with Snitsky.
As for the Wrestlemanias, you might be in luck. The WWE has a setup called WWE 24/7. It's like On Demand, except you can order past episodes of WWF, ECW, WCW, WWE, and PPVs. When it becomes more widespread, you might be able to get the wrestlemanias off there.
Only downsides: Ridiculous price for the content offered (let's say twice as much for HBO On Demand, with only a quarter of the content). And all WWF logos would be blurred out. Also, any instances of "Hulk" Hogan being mentioned would have to be edited as well.
Fucking Marvel.

THis week Raw and Smackdown aired from Japan. I have to say if they aired WWE shows from Japan from now on, the show would rock more. The audience were polite and clapped for the wrestlers. It just looked neat on TV. Raw was okay, but Smackdown sucked balls. >:
ALso, watch the current Wrestlemania commercials where they have superstars imitate famous movie scenes. They are fucking hilarious. So far they've shown Forest Gump (played by Eugene and William Regal), Braveheart (played by HHH and Ric Flair), and Basic Instinct (played by Stacy Keibler, Chris Jericho, Chris Benoit, and Christian). I just got back into watching wrestling.
I like the Batista vs. HHH matchup, but I think they can hold out on another feel good ending to Wrestlemania. Benoit took the cake last year and Batista winning wouldn't be as huge.
However, (correct me if I'm wrong) isn't all the undefeated JBL stuff a blatant setup to see him finally drop the belt at WM? Not that I mind that, I'm just wondering who they are going to hand the belt to. Because the last time I checked, there aren't many deserving on the Smackdown roster. I suggest a fourway, where JBL is first pinned. The crowd would go nuts.
And Heidereich/Snitsky vs. Kane/Taker is HORRIBLE.
But Angle vs. HBK is pretty good.

Well, there's rumors of how the WWE title would be dropped. They're saying that JBL may drop the title to Cena, but I also heard that JBL will hold the title up to Summerslam. I like JBL as a character, but not as a wrestler. They really need to have good wrestlers hold the belt more often.
Also, one of the new things that are done annually is the post-wrestlemania draft, where like 6 or more Raw and Smackdown superstars are switched to the other brands. The biggest rumor is that there will be a trade that orton will go to SD and Cena will be on Raw.

If you want to do a really good minimock, we could do one on what happens to wrestlers after they leave wrestling. You know, the drugs and police incidents and genetic manpulation (Chyna) and such.

I knew about the draft, but I didn't know that it was an annual thing...are they for sure doing that this year again?
And I agree with you on JBL - an awesome character you love to hate on paper, but it's not very much fun to watch him wrestle. I think he's going to tank once he drops the belt. Because I don't think anyone is interested in much else besides watching him lose his belt.
I miss King of the Ring.

Well that's what I heard. I dunno if there will be a draft, but I heard there would be a trade. I do hope a draft would be annual because it gives it a good shake-up on both brands.
I hope JBL doesn't sink when he loses the belt. In fact, if JBL decides not to wrestle, I hope he beomces a color commentator and not just focus entirly on the stock market. He'd be perfect to replace King, IMO.

Indeed. Christian makes the commercial though.
On Raw:
"JBL" attacks Batista by trying to run over him with a limo, but HHH (now equipped with handlebar mustache) resues him. Again this is just a plot so HHH doesn't fight Batista. Next week Batista will choose if he'll stay on Raw or go to Smackdown. My prediction he'll choose BOTH!
Also, they added Rowdy Roddy Piper as an inductee to the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony the night before Wrestlemania. Here's the last of 2005 inductees:
"Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff
The Iron Shiek
Nikolai Volkoff
"Cowboy" Bob Orton Jr.
"The Mouth From the South" Jimmy Hart
Rowdy Roddy Piper
They probably will add one or two more people to the list. My best bet is they'll add Bret Hart.

I realized tonight during the HBK/Orton vs. Brood match how played out the whole FINISHER OUT OF NOWHERE thing is. Where one guy goes for his finisher, the other guy blocks it, but then always does something really retarded and gets the move anyway a few seconds later. It's always bugged me before, but this night especially.

That's how every Orton match ends. They really should just get him off TV for a few months so he can bone up on how to wrestle, and how not to look like a total douchebag.
Tonight's show sucked. Trish beats Molly Holly and Victoria (the only two other female WRESTLERS on the roster) to have a feud with... Christy. And the other dumb Diva Search Loser overreacting to Trish's slap was annoying as all fuck. You know what else is annoying? Christy's whole basis for getting under Trish's skin calling her a slut (speaking of which, why did they totally stop ignoring Trish's relationship with Christian? No explanation on why they're not together anymore, just stopped telling the story). That's worse than when Lita would sit there and listen to Trish insult her about her stupidity of marrying Kane and having his baby, but Lita wouldn't fucking get mad until Trish called her fat. At least Trish had some logical comments that would have legitimately pissed Lita off. But Christy's like "You give blowjobs lol." Buh.
Remember what Victoria had a character? Remember when it was a FUN character? Fuck this booty-shaking and stupid ass song. Her and Molly need something worthwhile to do. Not fucking job to Trish so she can have Christy do something crazy like try and earn that quarter-million she won. It's really fucking sad that all these diva search airheads are given more TV time and more integral roles in the shows, while Molly and Victoria, who can fucking wrestle and be entertaining, are even lucky if they get to show up on Heat that week. PLUS, it looks like we're gonna have Trish vs Christy as Wrestlemania, if this stupid feud doesn't die out soon. And GOD FUCKING DAMMIT IF I SEE THAT RED HEADED SPASTIC CUNT ON WRESTLEMANIA I WILL PERSONALLY SET HER ON FIRE AND INJECT HER ASHES INTO VINCE MCMAHON'S PISSHOLE.
Someone should murder Gail Kim, so I can say "Gail Kim is spinning in her grave right now."
Masters has a good entrance, but he looks like Randy Orton with more muscles. And he sucks. Why did they fucking feed Stevie to him? Stevie should be all over the fucking show every fucking week being TOTALLY FUCKING AWESOME BECAUSE HE IS!
That other Diva Search Loser who carries around a microphone and pretends she can speak like a human being needs to fucking go away, too. WHY these girls are supposed to be taken serious, and aren't the butt of every fucking joke, I'll never know. I'd love it if everyone on the fucking roster called them on their stupidity and uselessness.
"Hey... SHAWN MICHEALS! How did you feel about THAT match just now?"
"Well, Maria, I'd tell you, but it's obvious your grasp on the English language isn't strong enough to comprehend the words coming out of my mouth."
*Maria stares blankly into space and smiles, not aware she's just been insulted. Shawn decapitates her in the name of Jesus*
>:
OH HEY IT TURNED OUT TRIPLE H WAS BEHIND ALL THE SMACKDOWN PROMOS AND THE LIMO WHAT A HUGE FUCKING SHOCK! I HATE how everything is spelled out for everyone. If you didn't know Triple H was behind it, trying to avoid having to face Batista, then you shouldn't be watching wrestling. Go watch NASCAR, and allow my wrestling show to maintain some sense of intelligence, please.
Speaking of intelligence, the racist idiots who tell Hassan to "go home" need to go eat some bullets. He was born in the USA. Telling him to go home and chanting USA MAKES NO FUCKING SENSE YOU TARDS. I also HATE that the WWE plays him as a heel. He has no fucking reason to be. EVERYTHING he's said so far has been truthful. Noooooo, but we shouldn't listen to the evil Arab. His skin is brown and he doesn't show blind loyalty to a country that has been shitting on him for the past 3 years. Remember folks: If you have even the SLIGHTEST problem with this country, you need to leave. Because the USA has no flaws whatsoever, and if you say otherwise you are a terrorist.
Hassan's character is an asshole though, and because of that, he is a heel. But if he WASN'T an asshole, it'd just be even more ridiculous to have all these fans booing him. It's the same song and dance they've been doing since the Iron Sheik. It'd have been really, REALLY fucking amazing, if they had made Hassan a face, and the heels were the racist assholes who told him to "go home" and shit like that. This whole thing is vaguely similar when Chris Nowinski had to match wits with Scott Steiner (of all fucking people), and everything Nowinski was saying was ABSOLUTELY VALID, but it was a HEEL'S opinion because it wasn't the standard blind following of the USA's actions with brown noses and big smiles. Get your fucking right-winged politics out of my wrestling show, please. Or at least show me more intelligence when you do it.
While it's no surprise that Batista chose Raw, they at least handled it fairly well the past couple nights, making it look like he'd have a reason to go to Smackdown.

Feb 22nd, 2005, 11:07 AM
Yeah, and most of what Hassan is saying is valid. But I think what the WWE is trying to do is say that he just came in and played the race card immediately before even his first match, which is kinda what he was meant to do anyway. There's no other way to explain the manager. I haven't seen a face with a male manager in a while, come to think of it. Maybe I have. Maybe I'm retarded.
His whole character from the beginning was supposed to play the card, though, and I think the fans are just eating into it.
Again, a real match between him and Benoit would've been incredible. If it's on Wrestlemania, I'm probably getting it.

Because Hassan is an "anti-American" Arab-American, which means it'd make perfect sense for Benoit - A Canadian - to feud with him.

My only complaint about Hassan and Davari is that they are not on Smackdown. It's not because of show quality, it's because of Davari. He'd make a kick-ass crusierweight, and would give much better attention to a good title. Especially what he uses as his finisher: The Flying Carpet Splash

Other stuff about him is at http://www.shawndaivari.com/
Christy 50% sucks right now because the other 50% has't been shown. They my have her training to do some wrestling (which will obviously happen at WM 21, sadly) and if they match is horrid, she'll completly suck.
I marked out really hard during Batista choosing the Raw contract. I knew it would happen, but there's that fine factor he would go to SD, and it fit perfectly. We all know that HHH was behind it all, the only question was who drove the limo, and it'll probably just some driver HHH paid. What made that moment was Batista smiling while he was hiding. From the first night after the JBL footage, Batista had that look like he knew HHH was doing, so he just played along.

At WM 21, Rowdy Roddy Piper will return withhis famus Piper's Pit segment. His gues at WM 21 will be Stone Cold Steve Austin.
Hulk Hogan was added as an inductee for the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2005.

Kurt Angle accepted the challenge for HBK vs. Angle ay WM 21.

I am saddened to say that the WWE has lost a great friend.
On Raw of March 7, during the main event of Batista vs. Ric Flair, HHH tried to hit Batsita with his Sledgehammer (considered the unsung member of Evolution), but batista grabbed it in mid-swing, and broke it in half. The WWE sends condolances to the sledgehammer's family and will be missed. RIP SLEDGEHAMMER NEVAH FORGET! :tear
Also Lita's back but to hell with that slut. She and Matt Hardy broke up because Lita was cheating on Hardy with Edge, who at the same time cheated on his wife who is close friend's with Chris Jericho. What I find funny is this actually sounds like a bad angle when infact it's real. The slut. >:
Also Randy's gonna fight the Undertaker because Taker now hates black people. :(

Copying and pasting from something I said on another board:
HBK vs Angle feels like they're trying to push a story upon it that would have been better suited a few years ago. The idea of Kurt trying to beat every one of HBK's accomplishments before WM is an intriguing idea... Except, what ARE HBK's accomplishments? Is Kurt gonna have a ladder match with Razor Ramone? Are Kurt, Luther, and Jindrak gonna form a new DX? Is Kurt gonna screw Bret Hart? (Sorry. SORRY.) HBK has an extensive list of wins and has been a part of many landmarks, so it's really hard to say what Kurt is really going to try and do. And while it might be interesting to see what he tries, I also suspect this will be just as half-assed as everything else has been leading up to WM.
Triple H squashing Rosey set up nothing, not even carrying into the backstage segment with Flair (they could have gotten to that same point without feeding Rosey to him). Although I will say Rosey is looking good in the ring these days. But when will he get his OWN theme song?
Speaking of the segment, I was hoping it would flesh out some more of Flair developing a problem with HHH (for real or to try and fool Batista), and while they do VERY lightly tease at Flair not being happy with HHH, it doesn't ever seem like it's gonna come to a head. I'm kind of happy that it won't be a factor into Wrestlemania, but I'd also like to see something start to happen afterwards.
The three matches with the ladder match competitors? No reason for it. When you throw 6 guys like these into a ring with a ladder, you don't really need to have them do anything to build it up any more than that, especially not in the form of three showcase matches that take upa good chunk of the show. But as far as matches go, each one was very good (with Kane/Christian being at the low end, and Benoit's making out with the ladder being a really scary visual).
Randy Orton officially announced his challenge to The Undertaker. He came out to a handful of cheers, which was followed by confusion when he challenged Undertaker, followed by LOTS of booing when he went on about ending Taker's streak. So you'd THINK Randy would be headed for a heel turn with that promising response. But no, he pulls the RKO out on Bischoff (crowd didn't buy into it though). And let's not forget Orton once again showing evidence that his character is supposed to be mildly retarded. "Hey, I heard you used to run WCW. Is that true?" I'd make a joke that Randy probably read that fact in the Smackdown magazine, but I don't believe Randy Orton can even read.
If Lita is training Christy to wrestle, then Trish obviously has nothing to worry about. In the real world, anyway. In the wrestling world, this sadly could set up Christy beating Trish. It also made me uncomfortable to see Christy pull the Twist of Fate on Trish, for a number of reasons.
Nice to see Regal and Tajiri back on Raw... gawking at a Playboy... not wrestling or reminding anyone they're tag champions... and... no, NO it's NOT nice to see them back on Raw. Not nice at all.
The show was alright, but it wasn't what a show weeks before WM should be. My favorite moment was Lawler eating a Subway sandwich. He should eat something every week. It worked for Tommy Dreamer, didn't it? No? OK then.

Shouldn't Shelton drop the belt before Wrestlemania? That would be shitty if there was no IC title match.
No IC match, no Raw tag match, no US Title match, no Cruiserweight match, no Smackdown tag match.
NONE of those titles have had any offering for a story going into Wrestlemania. At best, we'll get a few quickly thrown-together matches at the last minute.

That's shitty. I've always really really liked the Wrestlemania IC matches. I was convinced that when Shelton joined the 6 man ladder match, that it would be for the IC title, although the contract is a better, fresher, idea.
I'd like to see a match already get set up for Wrestlemania, get some nice build up behind it, and then the week before WM, one of those guys gets the IC title to raise the stakes of what the audience believed to be a normal match.
As for the tag matches, man I hate it when they just throw ALL the teams together in a match. Especiallly on both brands.

James, Shawn has a few accomplishments, but nothing that Angle could really do. Grand-Slam Champion, but, oh, wait, there's no European championship anymore. So he's kinda fucked.
Also, Drev, go back a page and look what the fuck you did. I was at school and opened up that page. :(

Angle is already a grand slam champion. He's won more titles that HBK, except I'm not sure if he's won the tag belts yet.

That was kind of my point.
Tonight, Angle beat Shawn's accomplishment of facing Razor Ramone in the first ever ladder match and winning the IC title... by squashing a jobber, climbing the ladder, and taking his medals. Couldn't have been more than 4 minutes. The only thing remotely similar was the fact that a ladder was sort of kind of involved.
And next week, he's facing Marty Janetty (sp?). Marty was Shawn's partner in The Rockers... and, I don't see how beating Marty means Angle is matching HBK's accomplishments. Did Shawn beat Marty? If so, why wasn't it mentioned when Angle briefly touched upon them being a tag team?
I knew this would be a half-assed attempt at telling a story. Back to not watching Smackdown.

Ok, they aired SD at 11.
It was dumb. JBL blew up Cena's US title and gave OJ the former US title belt.
Big Show accepts Akebono's challenge for a Sumo match at WM 21.....what?
Stuff happens.
Angle has his first (and very retarded) ladder match against a no name. He trells HBK that when he was in the Rockers, Marty Janetty (sp?) taught him everything, so next week Angle vs. marty. I don't care.
Long ordered Carlito to find UT about the challenge made by Orton. Taker tombstones Carlito and tells him Orton shall rest in peace. Next week Orton will be on SD for a contract signing for the match.
Cena angry and FU'd Long. Dumb.
Tag match between Rey/Eddie and JBL/OJ. Cena interferes. Dumb.
Seriously it was dumb. :(

I'm confused - why are Jindrak and Reigns fighting? What did I miss?
If they do Eddie vs. Rey, I will be significantly more excited about Wrestlemania. The Big Show match might be funny to watch, but I don't see it being very good.
I'd like to see them put Flair into a match somewhere, also. I like whne he falls.

Jindrak and Reigns are fighting because of the generic tag team split-up: They start sucking, they blame each other and then fight. At least Chavo is making the inevtible Eddy/Rey split-up interesting.

On Raw:
JAKE THE FUCKING SNAKE ROBERTS! :eek He looked like hell, which is no suprise since I read about the shit he's done in the past. Hopefully he's gotten better. Orton RKO'd him. :(
Marty Janetty was backstage and suprised the crowd being in a tag team match with HBK for a Rockers reunion. He wasn't bad. :)
Christy sucks, but Angle gave her an orgasm. :X
Snitsky might be in evolution? :O
HHH finally beat Benoit since a year ago, but with the sucky ending.
BIG DAVE fights Kane next week. :(
The show was great. They better put the fucking WM 21 comercials on the WM 21 DVD. They're gold. :(

The HHH/Batista Face-off thing was useless
Bischoff is a gimp

I'm sad about the lack of titles up for grabs.
Why no Orlando vs. Booker T?
RAW Tag belts? IC belt?
