So here's the deal:
I pay a good bit of money to have it, so I expect it to work, and to work right. However, all night, it's been blinking and fuzzing up and generally being a bitch. Does anyone else have this problem? Also, it seems that past 3 in the morning until about 5 that the menu says nothing but "No Data" if you're trying to surf for something to watch. This must cease. I need to know what's on if I can't sleep, for fuck's sake.

Call the Cable Company.

Well Jixby, Cox Cable is one of the most shifty phone message corporations in existence. The last time I tried, I was in a phone maze for almost half an hour.

Yes, the company is called Cox, and yes there are a billion jokes about it, my personal favorite being:
"Why doesn't Cox Cable have sports teams?"
A: Would you want to wear a jersey that said "Cox Soccer"?
As far as I know, there are two major cable companies in the US, Cox and Comcast, and I'm hardpressed to find differences between the two. I lived in PA and had Comcast DC, and the menus look EXACTLY like LA's Cox DC looks.

I'm talking about the companies that actually hire people to come to your house, drill a hole in the floor, and make your TV suddenly have lots more channels.
If I do find out I'm wrong, I'll be the first to apologize, but it's my knowledge that the only cable PROVIDERS, not STATIONS, are Cox and Comcast. I'm not counting TiVo and the like because I'm dealing with digital cable exclusively. TiVo is a whole different beast.

What the fuck? TiVo is a piece of recording and cataloging hardware and has fuck all to do with your cable connection.

Which is why I said it's a whole different animal. But some people seem to want to equate it to "cable company". All I was intending to do with the TiVo comment was clarify that, because Evil brought up all these other "companies", but as far as I know, they aren't companies (in the sense that they provide cable itself to your household, not just a channel)
Maybe I didn't make it clear enough, and again, I'm sorry if I didn't.

actaully I'm not a moron and I do know the difference between a station and a provider. I was refering to cable providers. cablevision and time warner both supply shitty digital cable that cant be stolen and that really pisses me off.

OK maybe you're right. I've just never heard of anything except Cox and Comcast, and if they're getting Cox all the way out in Arizona then yea, it's gotta be as big as I thought it was.
For the most part, digital cable is alright, but the main beef is how easily it gets knocked out, which of course leads to it having to "load" and then you're stuck with "No Data" on the menu for quite awhile. Or the ever famous "No Data" menu from 3-5am.

I could but I need something that yells back so that I can hit it and feel that much better about hitting it.

Call the 24 support line found on your billing statement. I've dealt with them a lot in the past, for both residential and business accounts, and you just have to keep calling them til they get the problem fixed. Techs like to think they are much busier than they actually are, so they need lots of reminders. :)

They must need a LOT of reminders, as I KNOW I'm not the only one calling them, ESPECIALLY not locally. It's almost in Louisiana's lifeblood to be a complete fuckhead towards someone like this.
Methinks it's because Cox knows they have the local digital cable monopoly so they can AFFORD to be bastards to us, and it's very annoying. I've tried calling to ask questions, to complain, etc. and getting through to them is an exercise in futility, you might as well ask the Pope to costar in a Ron Jeremy movie or something. ARGH

That's kinda odd. I've always had a live person on the line somethign like within 5 minutes of calling, but then I've only called residential customer support like twice...

Well, I still have to wait until tomorrow. The cable company doesn't seem to like having to answer calls on a Sunday.
