So, apparently the web's abuzz with the rumor/fact(?) that Thomas Haden Church is playing "the" villain in the third Spider-Man movie. A lot of people seem to be convinced this villain is Venom, but when you look at the guy you can pretty much rule that out, right?

Not exactly buff like Eddie Brock, let alone Venom. I'm assuming the foundations for a Venom story might be laid in the coming movie, but a different villain's going to appear first. Who could it be?
Stiltman?

Carnage. :eek
But I know in the comic book that Venom came first.
But that guy kind of looks like a guy who would play Carnage. :(

Thomas Haden Church, who was most recently nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in Sideways, has been cast as Spider-Man's new archenemy in the next chapter of the Spider-Man® adventure, it was announced by director Sam Raimi and producers Laura Ziskin and Marvel Studios' Avi Arad.
:( I want to see Venom and Carnage team up and open up a can of whoop-ass on Spiderman and I want 6 films, not just 3.
He's too old to play Venom or Carnage.

I´m guessing that the villain for the next movie is electro. Thomas Haden kinda reminds me of Sandman though. :/

Well, Raimi detests Venom, so it probably won't be him.
Sandman or Electro could go, though.

I wanna see Mysterio as his next villain. Preferably, Rey.

He looks exactly like Venom's host. Besides, Venom's a badass, who wouldn't pay to see him?

It won't be mysterio, I can guarentee it. They put him in the Spiderman 2 game, and he was a complete puss.

If that that guy buffed up and dyed his hair, he would be a good Eddie Brock. I'm sure if someone hits him a few times with a board, he'd make a good Venom, as well.
I remember Raimi saying something about wanted to have the Sandman in a movie, because he would look cool to do. The only problem I have with that is that Sandman is basically a thug with superpowers, and can't carry a whole movie on his own.

That would work. Hm. I think the Green Goblin and the Sandman were on a trio in the comics. I'll try to find out if they were, and who was on it. Because if they did that, well, that would be pretty cool.
Ah, and if they wrote Spider-Man like Spider-Man (ie- wisecracks) and got a better actress to play Mary Jane Watson.

Does no one remember batman forever and batman and robin? I'm sorry, but having two villains is just asking for bad luck and people to remember the batman series going downhill at #3.

batman returns had two villains too :/ or did catwoman not count or something

Two villains could work, and I think is going to be inevitable. They just have to think it through. The Riddler and Two-Face had nothing in common, and Poison Ivy and Mr. Freeze even less. They could either pick a few guys who've actually worked together against Spider-Man in the comics, or who don't work together and just fight Spider-Man on their own. Like the Rocket Racer and Big Wheel.

I think the second villain will be that Harry Osbourne kid. Hobgoblin?
ziggytrix
Mar 28th, 2005, 11:30 AM
in the comics hobgoblin was someone else, just a crook who robbed the green goblin's caches. harry was just the green goblin II. :P
and he's gotta be a villian in the next one, they spent too much time building that up in spiderman2 not to run with it in 3.
FS
Mar 28th, 2005, 11:34 AM
I could go with Harry becoming the Hobgoblin. Mostly just because I want to see Hobbie in a movie.

I was a little tipsy when I posted that. Not drunk, but apparently intoxicated enough to not remember her. Anyway, it was alright with 2, but when they had the riddler and two face it blew ass >:

I hope they write a good story that has villain that will fit and not say just make some cookie cutter plot and crowbar two villains into it.
I've seen too many movies based on liscenced properties do that shit.

Finally, AICN reports that multiple spies at Sony have confirmed that Thomas Hayden Church will indeed be playing the villain The Sandman. There's apparently a ton of Sandman conceptual art all over the Spidey-offices. The character was a prison escapee hiding out at an atomic testing facility when a explosion goes off. His molecules fuse with sand, giving him essentially shape shifting ability along with various other skills.

Trapster was Paste Pot Pete, Sandman has always been Sandman, except when he mixed with Hyrdoman and became Mudman.

Black Tarantula is cool, but not popular enough for the kiddies to recognize, I think. They'll go with someone who the general public can identify. I'm betting on Hobgoblin as being the main villain and maybe some Venom references thrown in.
