Researchers at the University of London Institute of Psychiatry have found that the constant distractions of email and texting are more harmful to performance than cannabis.

Those distracted by incoming email, phone calls and text messages saw a 10-point fall in their IQ, more than twice that found in studies of the impact of smoking cannabis, according to the researchers.

i thought it was how the overall presentation of e-mail and texting is one similar to passing notes in class and how it sunts our vocabulary and ability to properly express ourselves.

i thought it was how courier or arial or veranda have replaced the handwritten word when communicating with long distanced loved ones.

i thought it was how the lack of work involved in these communications allowed for poor judgement and loss of credibility.

but no, it just decreases productivity and lowers your mental age by about a year.
