View Full Version : Fear and loathing....

Okay, so it's Monday afternoon, and once again I awoke and began drinking. My girlfriend dumped me two weeks ago, for no apparent reason(seriously), and all I've done is drink. In fact, I'm drunk as hell right now. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm scared, depressed, and wary about life from this point on. I swore that I'd never fall in love after my last excursion, but of course I went ahead and did it again. So now I've got a bunch of new 'friends' on my arm and I'm terrified as to what's going to happen to me tonight when I go out to the bars. So, honestly, I'm not sure why I'm posting this, since most of you consider me a newbie because I don't post a dozen times a day. I suppose I'm just reaching out and trying to find somebody who can share what I'm going through.

Wrong place to look for sympathy, Mister 86.
But I won't be so mean as to rub it in.

Can't say I've ever had that experience, Generator, so I can't help you there...but I can offer my sympathy, since I'm one of the nice ones.

Well Generator, all I can do is say "sorry" because I lost my girlfriend of two years last week, but as much as it might hurt, you have to be a man about it. You can't just allow yourself to go down the shitter in an alcoholic daze, because that makes you seem TOO dependant on someone else to make you happy. It may hurt, yes, but you DID have a life outside of her, right? Life ISN'T over because you lose someone you love. It's painful to deal with but it's NOT over. In fact, this is the first time I've even brought up that I did go through a breakup because you have to deal with it, you can take advice, and you can take mine for what it's worth, perhaps a guideline, but no one can make anything better for you EXCEPT YOU. I know this, and now you do too. Get on with your life.
It was a bit harsh, maybe, but look. Most people want to slip in denial after something like that, and reality can be a big fucking kick in the ass, but nothing will get better if you don't TRY to make it better. No one is going to hold your hand to get you out of your funk, you have to learn to have the balls to take enough advice to guide you and then PULL YOURSELF UP.

^that's what I was thinking....
but yea, Generator, I'm sorry for ya babe....I think it might be a good idea for you to put the alcohol away for a while and just try to drag yourself out of this rut....go out and have fun sober for a while, talk to friends...it'll be ok ;) *muah*

Your own fucking fault. You saw the light (deciding you weren't gonna fall in love again), and then you strayed.
You got what you deserved. Love isn't real, and chasing it is always going to lead to pain. Die of alcohol poisoning.

What is up with you, James? You've never even had a significant other, let alone been in love, so how can you have these bitter convictions?

i suggest plenty of masturbation. and if you are really desperate, turn gay. as far as ive been told gay men have no standards, so you should be in luck.

How can you know what is real and what isn't? You are full of shit.

Actually, he's pretty much right. Any serious attempt at love will result in pain, if not so much for you then for your other. The fun part is that in many cases, namely successful marriages, the payoff of someone being there is more than enough to justify the pain.

hahahaha
Love is pain.
Welcome to Ja Rule!
HaEhAHEhaehahe
But no, love is pain and you are completely right, but it isnt pain all the time, and sometimes the moments of elation and the fact that there will always be someone there for you does justify the pain.
Love and Hate are the closest two emotions because to love you must care and when you care you are vulnerable.

I don't think that tops the companionship between jealousy and envy. :(

I said just the other day that you can't truly hate until you've truly loved. Maybe you should date me.

Only you could misquote the best known Smashing Pumpkins song, Kelly.
Another example that supports the fact that love is an illusion that brings nothing but pain.

Popular usage of "jealousy" is usually incorrect, thus it is not the same as envy. Envy is a desire to have what someone else has, jealousy is a fear of losing something to someone else. Hence, being jealous of a wife if she's flirting with another man. That's why Old Testament reflections on the first commandment say, "Ours is a jealous God," when God would have no reason to envy anyone.

Seth, have you ever read any of the "Conversations With God" series by Neale Donald Walsch? In it, he discusses the very point you just made (re: Jealousy of God). I'm not like a mindless zealot of his work and I'm not trying to push anything on you. I just thought that it was an interesting read. If you're interested, here's a link to an interview with the author that pretty much captures his basic premise. :)

P.S. Yeah, yeah, yeah ... I know ... this belongs in the reading forum. :/
