Is the truth that they suck? Or that they're gonna ditch this rap bull shit and stick to the metal of 3 dolla bill yall that made them good? I saw the ad on tv and was slightly impressed, but only time will tell.

Cant believe Sammy Siegler (fucking amazing old NYHC drummer who played on his first record at 12 years old) is drumming for them now. FOR SHAME.

Mastadon are totally carried by thier drummer. The drummer's awesome but I don't dig em a whole lot. But it's a hell of a step up from what this thread is about.

they're called Mastodon. And a lot of people who don't listen to metal generally are picking them up and loudly proclaim them as TEH SAVOIOURS OF METHUL! Does metal need to be saved, especially by a metalcore band? They're cool, they were better on their EP than on Remission or Leviathan, but stop hyping them already.

Yeah, i liked the EP best as well. All that "metal saviors" stuff is garbage, since they've only got maybe half a dozen songs i would ever really choose to listen to.

What band(s) did he play in? I recognize the name.

I don't consider Mastodon metalcore. Maybe some elements but not fully. Then again I still find it cool they played a Melvins cover when I saw them without fucking up.
